Spoiler thread ..
For the binge watchers amongst us only!

I've just finished episode 3 ..

I can't believe the sister is thinking of leaving her son behind or that the mum would pay the money without telling her husband anything.
Would Milo be able to go home without giving evidence? Obviously it's different in Turkey ( although it's obviously set in Spain )
I did notice different door numbers too?
The lawyer is very annoying but I did feel for him when he found out dad had been to the press.
Silly man.

@x2boys I'm not sure because I've only watched two episodes so far! I will need to watch the rest before I can reliably work that out.

x2boys · 16/02/2022 22:23

Fair enough !

Im wondering if it was due to age of consent ? If google is right i think Turkey may be 18 ???
They should of made it clearer what he was being found guilty of in the programme

Well in that case, both the boys are under age then! I know in the UK, the legal age of consent is 16. Didn't know its 18 in Turkey.

@Wartywart

Goodness, what a lot of assumptions in this thread. Homosexuality is not illegal in Turkey. It was made legal back in the 1800s by the Ottomans and confirmed again in 1923 during the founding of modern Turkey.

The attitudes towards it are a lot like the attitudes that were held in this country 50 years ago however.

Then I have no idea what he was found guilty of. The program gave this impression. Maybe their ages being under 18. Although that applies to both of them. A mystery!

Also, what I don't get is if Noah is 16 and under the official age in Turkey, why is he in a prison with adult males? Do they not have young offenders institutes there?

SpanishFly · 17/02/2022 14:36

What was supposed to have happened between Martin's boss and Cath? Did he sexually assault her? Rape her? Did Martin think it had been more consensual than it actually was?

Yes I wondered that too. Didn't quite follow their conversation at that point 🧐

I thought it was bizarre that the Mum went out on the razzle when her son was in jail? Surely not??

She wasn't really on the razzle ,I think she was drinking in desperation,I think the little sub plots were distracting from the main plot tbh

Watched all 4 episodes now.

Very stressful the last episode with all the court scenes. I really wanted to slap that judge at one point!

Think it was very brave of Noah to stand up at the end and say his piece so honestly.

Can't believe the cheek of that bent copper who took the bribe then lied about accepting it! Surely the hotel CCTV will show him walking off with the bag ffs.

Felt bad for Megan too when Ishmael said it wouldn't work. She really thought it would I think. Thank God Steve brought Freddie back though. Poor boy, properly stuck in the middle.

Bloody Milo though. All this was his and his mum's fault really. None of it would have happened if either he hadn't done anything with Noah or she wouldn't have made him accuse Noah due to her own issues with homosexuality.

Still not quite understanding what actual crime was committed when the judge said at the end that Noah was guilty and should get 3 years suspended sentence? Wasn't the mastutbating or the bit where Noah said he threw him up against the wall and pulled his shorts down?!?

Italiangreyhound · 22/02/2022 02:12

Thought it was very good but very upsetting/traumatic. Felt so sad for everyone in it.

@worriedatthemoment

Didn't we see the bruises before he went out ?
He was wearing a TShirt when he dived into the pool in the first few minutes (covering something up ) when he lifted it up , they were yellow/green so not fresh bruises (on his left side)

As 16yo they wouldn't have an Adult wristband anyway , they would be underage to drink alcohol . Wristbands might be different colours as different hotels .

I couldn;t help thinking if a young man was arrested in UK and there was a whiff of him being a minor , he would not be taken off in a police car like that with his parents chasing after in a taxi
And the statement he gave about not seeing any violence would be torn apart for co-ercion.

20+ years ago I went to Turkey on holiday , one of the hotel guests was very openly homosexual and made no secret of the fact he went out looking for many partners . He didn;t encounter any problems at all (from what he said) so I cannot think it is illegal ?

Meredusoleil · 04/03/2022 22:12

Apparently it's not illegal. Just very frowned upon still in certain circles, by the sound of things.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 04/03/2022 23:38

After watching the whole lot in one go , I;m in a mind to watch Midnight Express . I haven't seen it before , my DSis raves about it though.
I know it's brutal but a Classic
