Philip was an episode of Hacks that I watched playing exactly the same character. I still like Randall but find Kate and Kevin fairly tedious.

Philip and Kate are such an odd couple. There's zero chemistry. I also hate the lazy 'British' stereotypes - yy we're all repressed and dull and have drunken Scottish relatives who can't speak articulately at weddings

But I do like that Kate has been storylines that aren't just about losing weight. And I still think the way the entire series has treated Kate's weight and her relationship to food, has been quietly groundbreaking.

The Scottish relative was bizarre. Was he meant to be Phillip's dad giving a speech? Such lazy writing.

Yes, that’s tainted my view of Kevin too.

I'd looked forward to watching this last night but was underwhelmed. It all just feels a bit sad and desperate now. I will definitely see it through to the end but the first 2 or 3 series were in a different class and they are scraping the barrel now imo with the plotlines and characterisation. Also can't see Kate and Philip as a couple. Kate and Toby were very believeable, even when having problems. Kate and Philip seem like strangers to each other. To say something positive, Mandy Moore has a beautiful voice!

And Miguel's line, "I just wanted to drink wine for an hour" was v moving. I have been in a similar situation where I needed to come away from caring and watch shit daytime tv. I needed to know that somewhere, people were decorating their living rooms!

The thing with the singing was that it was the voice of a young woman. It wasn't the voice that would would match with an older woman. The lack of proper continuity/explanations/decent aging effects etc is starting to get on my nerves. They could have had some people of similar build/age to Randall's daughters just noted in the background but blurred so there was an essence of them being there but not featured. I wouldn't have done the photos sequence at all as it was just a bizarre combination of people with no explanation and to achieve what?

Yes-all that Miguel must be going through & the emphasis is on Rebecca mistaking Kevin for Jack🙄

And I hated the song that Rebecca sung.

Yes I know it was/incorporated the theme but bloody hell.

Agree entirely about the drunken Scottish relative. They've gone from Mr Self Deprecating Home Counties to Hamish McShoogle, very lazy writing.

And also agree the song was awful. As was the speech. Jeezo Pearsons... poor show.

I get that Kevin is a Hollywood millionaire (even though he's walked out on jobs several times and still gets work...), but how do the rest of the characters afford their lavish lifestyles?

Seriously, they're all constantly traveling East Coast to West Coast, and wherever else they fancy inbetween. How?

And yes, there's zero chemistry between Kate and Phillip.

Plus, wasn't he a complete prick to her and everyone else just a few episodes ago? Why the 180?
