Does anyone else watch this show?

I love it, but nobody seems to know about it! Sad

Nice to catch up with this last night - I quite enjoyed all the Thanksgiving meals through the years . It seemed each one involved drama. And eating sweet potato casserole angrily ;)

XelaM · 11/03/2022 08:42

Miguel is a saint to put up with that crazy family Grin

I think Kate is being awful to Toby. It's not like he's partying during his time away from home. He is working to support the family and he had to be a stay-at-home dad not that long ago.

The video preview for next week promises that we’ll have back to back episodes until the finale. Woo hoo!

Also says it will be a big three trilogy next, so assume one episode per sibling.

Looks like next one is all about Kevin which I think will please quite a few on this thread!

I did wonder how they’d fit them all in because I remember reading before this season started that it’d be starting later but there’d be a straight run through (which obviously hasn’t happened) until the last episode in May. If it’s the same as previous season in having 18 episodes then there’re still 11 left to show.

I enjoyed the new one, and I loved what Beth said to Randall in the car 😂

FlorianImogen · 11/03/2022 15:32

Loved this up until this last season, can't really get into it.

Blossomtoes · 11/03/2022 16:08

Glad it’s not just me. It’s completely lost pace now.
GastroNuisance · 11/03/2022 16:37

I think last night's had a bit of a return to form.

Kate and Toby feel so realistic. The sniping and back biting with an undercurrent of resentment. That's what I'm here for!

neveradullmoment99 · 11/03/2022 17:26

It feels a bit like the 'end' Its also like a slow death. Sad really.
dimples76 · 11/03/2022 18:17

I agree that the relationship between Kate and Toby feels very realistic. When they were fighting over the children's eating habits it was really easy to see both points of view. As a overweight child and obese adult I found it a bit painful to watch. I am so worried about passing my food neuroses on to my children whilst also trying to promote healthy eating.

I thought that this was the best episode in a while.

GastroNuisance · 11/03/2022 18:21

Yes @dimples76 I'm the same. I have a very complex relationship with food.

I also thought the angle about teenage Kate's weight gain being noticed by her brothers was really well done.

I feel awful for saying this but Kate is at a size which has such massive health risks. It would be foolish as a parent not to address it. I say this as a formerly obese person.

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/03/2022 19:32

Much better then The ballet episode

XelaM · 11/03/2022 21:30

Totally agree that Kate & Toby's relationship is realistic (as were Randall's and Kevin's reactions to her weight-gain as a teenager) but I am on Toby's side Blush I think Kate is being a total bitch to him

Pl242 · 11/03/2022 21:52

I’m not on either of Kate and Toby’s side. I think they both have valid points re the food/weight thing. They’re just failing to communicate. It’s not going to get much better.

I think although Toby took the job as it seemed to be the only option, he actually quite liked it. Remember too Kate wanted to keep her own job. It’s a case of them not wanting to compromise on their respective jobs. And they’re both finding their current set up hard in different ways.

Aboutcoffee · 11/03/2022 22:52

I'm not sure it's all Toby's fault. Kate kind of created the scene at the table by asking Toby what he was doing removing the topping from the sweet potato. She could have just rolled her eyes and had the conversation another time, though Toby was a pain outside when Jack wouldn't settle or whatever.

Kevin was an arse much as it pains me to say it.

It was a good episode. I just worry for it set the scene for an episode full of Randall angst as to why it was Kate and not him !!

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/03/2022 06:16

I get why Toby is acting like that

He did well To lose the weight from when they met at “fat club”

But equally jack is a child a little sugar isn’t going to hurt

He’s not a fat toddler at all

Tho sure the mn sugar gang will disagree 😂

Is that why they fall out. Over how to raise their kids

Sisisimone · 12/03/2022 16:20

I can't bear Toby. Loved it when Kevin told him to take the hat off Grin

It's hard to see how they are going to cover so much ground in the final episodes. To get to Kates next wedding. And the final scenes with Rebecca dying in the new cabin were years in the future from where they are now weren't they. Will he interesting to see how it all pulls together

Nospringchickendipper · 12/03/2022 18:14

I’m team Kate I don’t like Toby he seems to suck the joy out of living.

AnnesBrokenSlate · 12/03/2022 19:21

I think the food/weight discussion was realistic but I'm struggling with Toby this season. I feel like they spent 4 seasons building Toby up as a perfect partner and now with the sugar and pram comments; and dissing the Pilgrim hat they're trying to really quickly frame him as the 'villain'.
Was Kevin's singing and guitar playing supposed to be so cringey? He usually has more self-awareness than that Grin

Cravingsweets · 13/03/2022 21:52

He usually has more self-awareness than that

He reminded me of Phoebe Buffay with all his ridiculous songs 😂

AnnesBrokenSlate · 14/03/2022 00:29

😀😄 you're right!

MinglingFlamingo · 14/03/2022 22:41

Rebecca & her mums dynamic in the kitchen is exactly like my dm & me. In fact all of that relationship in the last episode is me and my mums relationship

Think we are definitely starting to see the cracks in Kate's and Toby's relationship

Glad we got to see the starting of Rebecca and Miguel's relationship sort of. Also glad that Rebecca picked Kate over Randall. Randall would have been insufferable he had been chosen.

Doubleraspberry · 15/03/2022 23:11

I was a bit confused that the whole quirky thanksgiving thing with Police Academy and hot dogs seems to have disappeared.

idiotfacelicker · 16/03/2022 14:50

They did still have the hat so
I'm guessing PA and hotdogs happened earlier in the day

MadisonAvenue · 17/03/2022 10:47

Just watched this week’s episode, thought it was a good one.

The official Facebook page has put a calendar on the page with air dates marked up until the series finale which is on May 24th in the US.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/03/2022 16:52

Just starting tho I didn’t think you could fly alone with two kids if under 2

One adult one child
