Show Trial on BBC - the legalities!

IWasFunBeforeMum · 08/12/2021 22:22

Without giving away any spoilers, I'm curious about others opinions on the legal practices shown in Show Trial (BBC). I realise some of the legal produces in shows are changed for entertainment but some in show trial I'd never seen before so curious to know if they're factual..

Any legal eagles shed any light?

  • Would a CPS employee visit a victim's family regularly? Isn't this the role of FLO as part of the police?
  • Do the CPS work closely with the police to collate and discuss evidence? Or do the police put the report with the evidence to the CPS and they then decide whether to prosecute or not?
  • Would 2 people on trial share the court or would their trials happen separately?

These are questions I had too. CPS seemed really involved didn't they.
Have all the episodes been on now because I binge watched them all

Not legal but I know there are currently two trials either ongoing or just ended in the crown court where there are two defendants who share the trial and the dock I think (not seen inside the court so just what is being reported).

Interested in the first point too!

DH is in the CPS.
No, don’t regularly see victim’s families. May speak to them about charging decisions to explain.
Yes, do speak to police about cases as they are being built but not usually that much
Yes to multi handed trials.
