Mr Bean
Young Sheldon (some.more grown up themes)

DismantledKing · 25/11/2021 19:04

Laurel and Hardy?

Hermanfromguesswho · 25/11/2021 19:06

Outnumbered?

Bagelsandbrie · 25/11/2021 19:06

I will probably get absolutely flamed for this but my 9 year old absolutely adores Friday Night Dinner Blush - obviously don’t let them watch it if they don’t understand re bad language and not repeating things, but it’s pretty tame really and Ds loves Jim the creepy weird neighbour.

Hermanfromguesswho · 25/11/2021 19:07

Haha mine too!

Mine would have loved it at that age as well. They used to love Black Books, Father Ted, and Mighty Boosh too.
mattcockhand · 25/11/2021 19:13

there have got to be some age appropriate, not awful to watch comedies on cbbc surely?

thelegohooverer · 25/11/2021 19:15

Some Mothers Do Ave Em is basically an earlier version of Mr Bean. He might enjoy old episodes of Bewitched too.

There’s a few outdated attitudes in them that might need a conversation.

Difford · 25/11/2021 19:18

I love So Awkward on CBBC.
I'm 46 Blush

DismantledKing · 25/11/2021 19:18

Old episodes of Tom and Jerry, from the 1940s? They’re constant slapstick, and the dvd’s have edited out the stuff that’s dated very badly (you know what I’m talking about)

TheMarzipanDildo · 25/11/2021 23:53

Ghosts? Some rude humour but I think that would go straight over a nine year olds head.

I think you could probably get away with Father Ted too.

Myneighboursnorlax · 25/11/2021 23:55

Chucklevision? It’ll look quite dated now, but very Mr Bean/slapstick style comedy

TheMarzipanDildo · 25/11/2021 23:55

Sorry, just realised they are 7! Maybe not then.

CucumberCool · 26/11/2021 01:39

@DismantledKing
Yes she's ok with those old school cartoons, enjoyed pink panther too!

Most other suggestions will need to wait at least 4 years imo! She's very sheltered and only 7!!

Chuckle brothers is a good shout though....will try that!

Thanks all Smile

My son loved Hannah Montana and The Suite Life of Zack and Cody at that sort of age. Not sure if they're available now. Also, Simpsons, Top Gear and Father Ted. I loved Bewitched and the Monkees repeats in the 70s at that age. Also The Munsters! Very ancient the last 3, though!

TangledUp789 · 26/11/2021 02:03

I don’t know if she’d be a bit young to enjoy this, but Keeping Up Appearances perhaps? It’s all pretty tame and there’s plenty of slapstick humour.

Chucklevision is the best recommendation so far though. I still really enjoy watching it even though I’m in my thirties! Blush There’s loads of episodes on YouTube.

CucumberCool · 26/11/2021 02:07

I loved bewitched and Monkees too! (Repeats mind, was not born the first time round!)

immersivereader · 26/11/2021 02:11

Came on to say Keeping up Appearances.

Certain episodes of Seinfeld, DS loves it.

CucumberCool · 26/11/2021 03:07

@TangledUp789 @immersivereader

Yes! How could I forget about Mrs Bucket!

I used to love watching Class Dismissed on CBBC with my dd!

FKATondelayo · 26/11/2021 08:19

Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse (Netflix) - it's animated but it's very funny. No idea how it got approved by Mattel - it takes the mickey out of Barbie but has a lot of heart. My boys loved it.

Sam & Cat (Netflix) - old Nickelodeon show with Ariana Grande - again more funny than you think it will be.

The Goes Wrong Show (BBC) - the Christmas episode will be a perfect intro - old school farce & slapstick.

Count Arthur Strong (BBC) - from the writer of IT Crowd, Father Ted etc but a bit more gentle and PG. Some episodes won't be suitable (e.g. the 'Misery' one) but there should be a lot she can watch.

Golden Girls - my sons (12 & 6) loved this when it was on during lockdown. I think they liked the idea of old ladies doing naughty things.
