Anyone watch this?
Just watching it now

The masks that you can see through look really good

Caring for Frank sounds really hard.

They removed the funding for Frank's one to one 😞

Surely they forgot to tell him that the first thing you do is ring 999 when sometimes not breathing

I just watched part one. I think it's an excellent programme that should all watch. I work in social care and got a couple of friends to watch it and see what we actually do.
Unskilled my arse! I love Ed Balls, and he'd make an excellent carer.

It’s definitely an eye opener for a lot of people who haven’t any experience of adult social care

Yes, I agree. Also shows that you can't grab any old person who's unemployed and make them do this kind of work, as so many seem to suggest. How many 19 year olds would be as good as the lad (Cameron) working in the dementia home? My DH was close to tears watching it. And has a renewed respect for my work. I hope it makes some people want to work in care though. I really thought Ed was delightful with the clients, and the scenes with his mum and sister were very moving.

Excellent programme. I cried my eyes out watching it. I haven't watched the second episode yet.

It's a good programme and I really liked Ed's accountability for his time in office and the fact he also through possibly ignorance of the facts, didn't do enough where social care is concerned.
I think it highlighted really well the demands of poor funding that end up on carers shoulders, both paid and unpaid, and the concequences for those who are supposed to be recieving the care - for once the blame wasn't directed at those on the 'floor' charged with giving care without the resources they need, a refreshing change from the usual scandal type reporting and the 'Lessons have been learned' crap we usually see.
I think everyone should watch it so they have an understanding of what it's like to be in the social care system as a carer or as a service user - although unfortunately it may have the opposite effect of attracting people to the industry to work that the current TV ads are aiming for. Be nice to think it would encourage the government to actually do something about the issues that cause low recruitment and retention of staff, but I doubt it.
