Our Girl Thread 62 "Our Girl, Soldier Soldier and The Musketeers Revisited"

We started to follow "Our Girl" back in 2014 and although there will be no further series, we do revisit from time to time. We have watched all seven series of "Soldier Soldier" to keep up our military terminology and are now on the final series of "The Musketeers". Of course, there is a definite connection between "Our Girl" and "The Musketeers" in the delightful form of Luke Pasqualino. In the New Year, we plan to go back and watch series 2 of Our Girl.

Queenie enlists the services of Milady. She will be ruthless in doing what is necessary to protect her son.

Rhubarb01 · 19/01/2022 21:49

Well he got his just desserts in the end.

Ilovelblue · 19/01/2022 21:50

Wow, Milady has no conscience whatsoever has she? That's the drug ravaged pop star gone for good then!

I think Porthos has had what you would call a very accelerated promotion there!

D'Art is the new Captain.

Ilovelblue · 19/01/2022 21:52

D'Art has earned his stripes.

He suits the hat

Ilovelblue · 19/01/2022 21:54

and it looks as if it's all going to end happily for everyone.

I like Aramis's new uniform. Blue to match Queenie's dress.

Oh, she's in cream now.

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 19/01/2022 21:55

Aramis gets to wear the royal blue, and gets the Queenie again and Athos and Sylvie ride off into the future....

Ah, so it ends on a positive note for everyone.

Magi84 · 19/01/2022 22:00

Yes happy endings all round

Magi84 · 19/01/2022 22:02

So as eejit can't make next week shall be starting OG series two on February 2nd?

Ilovelblue · 19/01/2022 22:07

That suits me magi if it suits everyone else.

Can I just ask, once we've finished OG2, did we talk about Last Tango in Halifax or is that something else where my memory is failing?

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 19/01/2022 22:15

Yes, 2nd Feb is fine for me. Looking forward to some OG.

Not sure what we agreed after that, but I'm happy to try Last Tango. I haven't seen it, so that would be different. It's difficult to think of many British dramas which have multiple series.

Ilovelblue · 19/01/2022 22:20

The reason I ask is because I'll have to look for the DVD on eBay I think!

eejittwo · 20/01/2022 17:55

eejit by name and eject by nature. It's the 9th I can't do, not next week. Happy to take a break next week, but can we then take another break on the 9th? Pretty please.
BTW - not only was I late joining you last night, but I also had problems with mums net dropping out all the time. Mega boo! So I didn't get the opportunity to ask how people liked Series 3. I don't like it as much as the other two. I feel it lost the fun and the humour when the original show-runner left and it got a bit too didactic and worthy with its concern for the poor hammered home at every opportunity.
And for all the happy endings, I remain unconvinced by the Athos-Sylvie storyline. Am I out on a limb as regards there rest of you?

eejittwo · 20/01/2022 17:56

eejit by nature! Autocorrect, really!

Magi84 · 20/01/2022 18:28

Sorry you missed the finale eejit. I agree with you entirely about series 3 dropping off in humour and relevance most of the time. Also all that tidying up of story lines seemed a bit rushed. All done in the last couple of minutes. Still on the whole The Musketeers proved to be a worthwhile watch. On the subject of Athos and Sylvie I never came to terms with it as she irritated me for some reason so I kept finding fault.

Will wait to see what the others feel but am quite happy to make it a two week break and start up on Feb 16th.

Ilovelblue · 23/01/2022 23:06

Ladies, not sure if we're all getting mixed up here? If eejit can't do 9th, that means we still have two Wednesdays before then, so that means we end up having a three week break?

Would we not be better carrying on next week then just having a break on 9th?

Let me know what you think?

OP posts:
Magi84 · 24/01/2022 06:15

You are right of course ilove I think it was me who had written off January a bit prematurely and forgot this week the 26th. I will wait and just go with whatever everyone thinks re how many Wednesdays we 'have as a break'.

Ilovelblue · 24/01/2022 11:14

I'll send them separate messages in case they don't look on here magi.

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 24/01/2022 12:11

Yes, I realise now we were confused. Happy to carry on this Wednesday 26th with OG2. Looking forward to it.

eejittwo · 24/01/2022 15:36

My bad! See you on Wednesday. I’m assuming we start with the ten minute prologue and then go unto the first episode?

Ilovelblue · 25/01/2022 21:04

Hi all. Glad we've got Wednesday sorted! I'm happy with the prequel as I have it recorded but not sure if everyone else has it? Let me know.

It was the first time I'd ever seen LP - I think I was in love from the word go!

OP posts:
eejittwo · 25/01/2022 23:12

I know - 🤤

Magi84 · 26/01/2022 06:38

The prequel and the whole OG series are on iPlayer so no problem. It has all been on there now for ages and is listed as staying for a year. I do have the DVDs but would have been stuck for the prequel without iPlayer. So looking good. I see we have only 100 posts to go on this thread and I bet they get used up quickly when it is OG we're discussing!
