Omg this is mind-blowing

These people are insane

Seeing a normal-looking young man say quite seriously that 800,000 children a year are kidnapped for sexual abuse and torture in the USA every year

Listening to the orange person whinging on about stopping the steal and inciting violent riot

All constantly filming themselves

Lord of the Flies to each other as soon as they actually got into the chamber as opposed to shouting and punching people

Incredibly careful policing that probably prevented a bloodbath but where was that thinking beforehand

I watched it by chance, not the kind of thing I normally watch. It was fascinating, horrifying. The police officers that stood between thousands of people hellbent on invading the Capitol and, potentially, democracy in the US. Crazy.

What struck me was that they didn't really gave a plan for when they got into the capitol.

I also happened upon this part way through the other night. Really insightful, I know it was reported on here but I don't think the full seriousness of the situation was portrayed at the time. That poor police man who was dragged through the crowd and tasered. Prime example of mob mentality. I hope all those identifiable (by their own footage!) have charges against them.

I know it was reported over here

Having watched this today, I realise how much this was minimised by the UK media (at least). It’s a terrifying watch. The psychological trauma suffered by the police officers as well as the physical clearly had a devastating impact. I didn’t know that 4 officers took their own lives in the aftermath. I also felt very uncomfortable about the level of “talking heads” input from the perpetrators. I appreciate the documentary makers wanted balance but I find it hard to believe that any other criminals would receive airtime this way.
