Any recommendations for kids programmes like Tiger Who Came Tea, Gruffalo, Room on a Broom. Basically short kids films that aren't crazy and manic like some of the Disney ones 😊

There’s all the Julia Donaldson ones:
Room on the Broom
Gruffalo
Gruffalo’s Child
Zog
Zog and the Flying Doctors
Stickman
The Snail and the Whale

The only other ones of this ilk AFAIK are The Tiger that came to tea and Going on a bear hunt.

And Superworm is coming this Christmas.

doadeer · 15/09/2021 17:39

Thank you. Most of them we've tried but a couple new ones!

Oh and The Highway Rat in the already exists list!

Lamby1234 · 15/09/2021 17:42

'We're going on a bear hunt' is a favourite here.

PullMeInToTheScreen · 15/09/2021 17:45

Early Wallace and Gromit are nice and short !

doadeer · 15/09/2021 17:46

My son is autistic and he seems to like a specific type of programme, I'm sooo bored of the same ones 🤣 I also remembered about Percy the Park keeper and the Snowy Day

I don't know where you'd find them but the adaptations of Oliver Jeffers books Lost and Found / Here We Are, are really lovely and would probably tick this box.

Also the new Moomins adaptation - I think this is on Prime, is really lovely too.

lemonsyellow · 15/09/2021 18:08

Would he like Bluey?

farfallarocks · 15/09/2021 18:09

Revolting rhymes

PlasticDinosaur · 15/09/2021 18:11

While our son was obsessed with the Julia donaldson ones he also really enjoyed Shaun the sheep (not hideous Timmy time) and anything Wallace and gromit shorts and films.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 15/09/2021 18:13

Snowman/Snowman and Snow Dog.

They have no words, just music so may be too different

lemonsyellow · 15/09/2021 18:15

How old is he?
Are short TV programmes like Pingu any good? Or Sarah and Duck?

doadeer · 15/09/2021 19:29

He is 2 years 8 months. He is non verbal so it's hard for me to tell sometimes what he likes about TV shows or not. We are having a "not interested in any of my toys" phase so more TV than normal.

Thank you for all the suggestions I'll check them out

Noticed channel 4 has 'the bear' which I think is a Raymond Briggs from a few Christmases ago. YouTube has a Hairy Maclary animation series which my children love, there is also Percy the parkkeeper on there too. They do love the Julia Donaldson animations but we have watched them to death!!

Pokhora · 15/09/2021 19:41

My almost 2 year old likes Waffle the wonder dog. Might be worth a try if he likes animals. The Kipper the dog series is also quite calm.

Have you tried any nature programmes? My other son who has autism and was non verbal until 5 loved the Planet Earth series from a very young age.

Autumnally · 15/09/2021 19:45

I know what you mean - I have an autistic child and he has always fared better with programming that is not overstimulating. I like Puffin Rock, Bluey is also quite gentle. Sarah and Duck, JoJo and gran gran, and Tinga Tinga Tales have all been favourites here.

desperatelyseekingcaffeine · 15/09/2021 19:48

Shorter, but most of the Eric Carle books (like very hungry Caterpillar) are animations, try you tube. They have lovely calm music and voiceover.

My autistic son is obsessed with Thomas and watching very weird things on YouTube! Lately there have been videos of lifts from different countries and water parks around the world 🤣

Beefmeupscotty · 15/09/2021 22:31

There's a Roald Dahl adaptation (enormous crocodile and 3 others) from the 90s we came across in a stay in hospital. Incredibly calming and had him asleep within 30 mins.

coodawoodashooda · 15/09/2021 22:35

Cloudbabies

IamJuliaJohnson · 15/09/2021 22:43

@lovelychops there are some great videos of automated container ports on YouTube that your child might like!
