Has anyone watched See on Apple TV+? Season 2 has just started, but I’m still watching Season 1. The concept is that a pandemic virus has left any survivors unable to see. Centuries later, twins are born to a woman who wandered into JM’s village, and they can see. Basically, JM and his lot are the good ‘uns and opposing them are of course, a set of “baddies”. It sounds totally daft but the cinematography is beautiful, and the costumes are good. Plus it has JM being very JM, so worth watching for that alone IMO. 😍

I will literal watch any old shite with JM in. He's an Adonis

WingBingo · 28/08/2021 09:54

Amazing opening scenes in the pilot, loved it from the get go.

Such a good premise and yes, the cinematography is awesome.

Yutes · 28/08/2021 09:56

It’s a really good tv show, very well done. I watched it unsure they were definitely going to make a second series (which is my massive bug bears of watching new Tv shows).

I thought the first 2/3 episodes were really good, got a bit “talky” at times in later episodes, and yes I know that makes me sound like a total Philistine, but sometimes one just wants lots of action. The scene going down-river on the raft was amazing.
I do think it’s a shame it’s on Apple TV+, if I hadn’t recently bought an iPad, I would never have known about it. Apparently, there will be a third season also, read that somewhere.

I'm only on episode 3 but it's great so far. Trying to get through it as quickly as possible so I can watch season 2 as it's released.

idsisatwat · 29/08/2021 21:18

I tried watching it, but it was just ridiculous. The idea was good, it just wasn’t executed very well.
And wait until the priestess turns up Grin

Though JM is stunning

CornedBeef451 · 29/08/2021 21:32

We tried to watch it but gave up after a couple of episodes as it was just a bit daft. Jason Momoa is gorgeous in it though.

I really enjoyed him in the Red Road though, it was free on Amazon but then they changed it so you had to pay or else I would watch it again.

I thought I would watch him in anything but he wears too many clothes in See to make up for the ridiculousness of it all. Glad you're enjoying it though.

Bit unfortunately it was “old shite”. Ridiculous concept which didn’t hang together. We also gave up after 3 or 4 episodes

Yutes · 29/08/2021 21:52

Try Sweet Girl on Netflix. It’s new and he’s in that.

DumbestBlonde · 29/08/2021 21:58

I am watching it - not slavishly, but have it on while doing something else - and think he is great in it, although not a "fan" as such.
The production values are great and of course the premise is ridiculous - but I will always watch anything post-apocalyptic anyway.
It is quite amazing when he turns into a killing machine.....
My main issue is the mother now looking the same age as her daughter, but I will always suspend disbelief for something like this. I did see the reveal of who she actually is coming a mile away.

WolverineBlueyy · 16/10/2022 22:46

Just watched the final episode and feels like I'm the only one who did! Really enjoyed this show, but can't even find a decent episode recap out there.

Anyone else out there?

Yutes · 16/10/2022 22:54

I’ve watched it and think it’s something a bit different. The last season comes
Out soon, maybe start of next year, I think?

WolverineBlueyy · 16/10/2022 23:25

No, that was the end... wasn't it?!

grannyjacob · 17/10/2022 00:19

I loved the fight scenes in the final episode, Ranger is a great character. Was very satisfying for Sibeth to be killed with her own weapon. I kept hoping Baba wasn’t going to die, but wonder if JM just didn’t want to make any more seasons?
But I thought the rest of the episode after Baba’s death was boring beyond belief. I’m also wondering if by Kofun saying what he wants to do, that’s setting it up for the possibility of future seasons showing the total warfare between the blind vs the sighted, brother vs sister? Is that why you saw them handling guns?
Also thought it was a total anti-climax when the camera panned back that the library/haven of the sighted was in New York, really expected it to be Washington DC (I suppose the map would have given me a clue but I didn’t really look closely at it when Haniwa opened it up.
Overall, I loved See, would recommend it to anyone. Yes, the concept is totally daft, but the fight scenes, costumes, scarifications/piercings, etc. and cinematography were wonderful as was JM. I also liked that apart from JM I didn’t “know” any of the other actors. Too often it’s the same blooming faces over and over again.

I think the final season is still to come.

I think it’s time consuming and expensive for them to make; so I think it might be nice to wrap it up and then Momoa can maybe move onto other projects. I imagine he’s in demand

Yutes · 17/10/2022 08:00

SORRY

I have my wires crossed and I’m a year or so behind. I’m not up to date. The final season (season3 ) you can watch now and I haven’t seen it ConfusedBlush

WolverineBlueyy · 17/10/2022 10:57

Ah granny I loved it too. (Trying for no spoilers here for Yutes Grin)

It knew exactly what it was, played with a lot of tropes but did it so well. It had a lot of worthy themes but didn't take itself too seriously. It was violent but not too graphically gory, brilliantly and very organically diverse, with a great ensemble.

Baba's last battle gave the audience everything we could want in a finale, I reckon. And Sylvia Hoeks as Sibbeth was absolutely amazing, what a screen presence. Tamacti Jun's story arc was really good too, how we come to admire someone that was such a one-dimensional bad guy in the first season.

As it was from Stephen Knight I wondered if Baba might have been a role once meant for Tom Hardy like Taboo and Peaky Blinders, but JM was perfect and played it all just right.

I agree the guns at the end must have been shown for a reason, if only as a broad symbol of human weakness, no such thing as lasting peace, etc.
