Continuation of the Faye-related fractious fun!

OP posts:

I can imagine the AIBU from Faye’s point of view if this happened to a Mumsnetter.

TobysGreatAunt · 19/08/2021 08:33

@QueenBee52

people like Faye always meet their match...

and its usually when its least expected...

Oooo but when though ?
LopsidedWombat · 19/08/2021 09:10

Agree with pp who said they don't care who wins this year compared to other years where you always have a firm favourite. It's been a weird series. I've loved Liberty since the start and almost hope that her and Jake win just so that she gets the subsequent opportunities /money etc!

bbgxd · 19/08/2021 09:11

@Aquarius1234

Refused to watch the baby stuff . Tuned in + 1 last ten minutes to assume it was over. Sounds like the worst episode in the whole of all series?????

Surprisingly there were some funny moments. I planned to switch off too

poullou · 19/08/2021 09:11

I think Faye does have a right to be hurt. Nobody said anything negative about her and Teddy and then out of the blue, they vote for them (strategic perhaps?).

Jake and Liberty took the voting on the chin but it didn't come as a surprise to them.

I think the producers told Priya to tell Faye so that she would figure out who voted for them and to stir up trouble.

ChequerBoard · 19/08/2021 09:12

I think Faye spends her life:

  • assessing situations quickly and determining a narrative that paints Faye as the blameless victim
  • charging around like a wounded rhinoceros shouting said narrative loudly over the top of anyone who tries to reason with her, laying on additional expletives and obscene gestures to get her point across
  • thinking that the radio silence that eventually ensues means that everyone agrees with Faye and not that they think she's lost the plot and either can't be arsed or are too scared to argue with her anymore
  • holding grudges and eventually losing friends, and then feeling aggrieved that she can't trust anyone.

It must be a miserable way to live actually.

TheRebelle · 19/08/2021 09:18

Faye had no right whatsoever to be upset, a) it’s a game show with a prize money b) they all had to vote for someone c) they’re all entitled to their own opinions and d) why would anyone tell her they don’t think her and Teddy are compatible when she reacts so badly to even mild criticism.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 19/08/2021 09:20

So sad for Liberty ... in last night's episode she was saying how much she was still enjoying it and how she wished it could go on for longer. Poor girl.

Faye jumping on Teddy at every opportunity ... such a stunt. Her fakery extends way beyond her body modifications. Oh yeah and she loves Mary? So much that she was in one of the couples she and Teddy voted for. Pah!

I was sad to see Mary and Aaron go. At least they made a slight change from the same old same old same old.

Millie is the only new girl to have survived (I don't count Chloe as she arrived only a few hours after the originals) and even she's been in there for ages. I wish the producers had not allowed so much voting by the islanders ... it makes for dull viewing when they constantly keep each other in out of loyalty/ so-called friendship.

Twiglets1 · 19/08/2021 09:27

I’m going to be controversial and say I don’t love Liberty. I expected her to challenge Jake on why he was encouraging all the other boys to be disloyal to their partners at Casa Amor. She never did - all she cared about was his negative comment about her in the early days of their relationship.
This shows me that she is not as close to the other girls as she pretends

PumpkinKlNG · 19/08/2021 10:06

I liked liberty at first but not now, I find her a bit bland and boring.

Cheeseplantboots · 19/08/2021 10:24

@Aquarius1234

And I would have stopped watching completely if Faye went.
Me too. I quite like her. None of the girls (bar Liberty) are very nice. Kaz is awful!
FirstTimeMommy2021 · 19/08/2021 10:29

Any suggestions what to watch after LI finishes?

LarsErickssong · 19/08/2021 10:41

@FirstTimeMommy2021

Any suggestions what to watch after LI finishes?
I'm thinking about watching series 2 next although I've just seen that Married at first sight is starting on bank holiday Monday and it's in a new format (like the Australian one) so I might give that a go.
FirstTimeMommy2021 · 19/08/2021 10:42

I've never seen married at first And I hadn't heard of it til another pp mentioned it before.
Might have to give it a go!

PumpkinKlNG · 19/08/2021 10:43

I wouldn’t know what to do with myself once it’s finished 😂, it’s the only thing I watch on tv, I would like to go back and watch an old session but I’ve already watched them all apart from the first one which for some reason doesn’t appeal to me.

desperatehousewife21 · 19/08/2021 10:51

If I saw Jake modelling clothes for boohoo man etc, it would put me off buying them.

Poor Lib, it must be something quite big for her to take off her mic and then properly sobbing too so not just a tiff.

I’d happily still watch if Faye went, don’t think she brings anything other than noise and show off/ everyone pay attention to me attitude.
Her wrapped around T before they went to golf was gross and very marking her territory, trying too hard to prove they are compatible. Does Teddy actually fancy her? Imagine trying to break up with her Confused

PumpkinKlNG · 19/08/2021 10:57

Fayes the type of person you would need to just ghost but would turn up at your house kicking off 😬

TonyThreePies · 19/08/2021 11:12

I wonder if Jake has ditched Liberty because he knows they won't win and can't be arsed pretending to have to like her anymore?

Monestera · 19/08/2021 11:13

Sorry for constant commenting but as I z only catching up how they dived on the boys when they came bk like they're saviours iv never had that lmao my other half is as the girls where when I come home and iv only went to get diesel and milk (10 mins max) lol my youngest is 2 and can't remember the last time I had longer than 30 mins on my own and my partner (also kids dad just not married YET lol) lives with us think kids has separation anxiety from me coz I'm sahm my own fault lol

This is really not a lolling or lmaoing situation.

Monestera · 19/08/2021 11:15

I think it'll be interesting how this will play out. Liberty is centre of attention, and ill-done. Where does that leave now ex-friend Faye? If she joins in in supporting Liberty she'll look like a hypocrite. If she keeps her distance she'll look lacking in compassion.

I'd say, "well-played Liberty" apart from she looks genuinely really upset.

Pinkdelight3 · 19/08/2021 11:15

Nobody said anything negative about her and Teddy and then out of the blue, they vote for them (strategic perhaps?).

Because they were asked out of the blue to vote for least compatible, forcing to reflect on that and weigh up negative aspects of all couples. No one would randomly go up to people in a relationship and tell them they're not very compatible. Least of all to Faye who would go berserk. She literally told the house she'd take them all on, they were cocks etc. so it's crazy expect anyone to dare say anything she doesn't want to hear. But for Faye, the problem is she's just "too nice". There really is no getting through to someone like that, as Teddy found when he was in the right and being utterly reasonable and she bullied him into submission and now he's a shadow of himself.

Monestera · 19/08/2021 11:17

Would be great if Liberty wins, and then reveals herself to be an incredibly smart and staid Machiavellian con artist. After the win, she turns up wearing glasses and a suit, with her hair cut in a severe bob. "Yes, I had it all planned out. I did my research and I knew exactly how to play the islanders, the production team and the British public..."

Andi2020 · 19/08/2021 11:51

@TonyThreePies I was thinking sane he knows he not going to win so breakup now so he doesn't have to spend time with her when they get out.
He thinks he can go clubbing as a celebrity and girls will be falling over him some might but long term he is a Jack Ass.
Liberty should have had it out with him about egging boys on at Casa Amor he thought this was his ticket to win.
Yes Liam and Toby where both idiots in Casa amor but they worked to get their girls back and are both now at the Top and these couples will do well whether they stay together long term really cant see that with the attention they will get will they be able to resist temptation without Jake the snake hopefully.
Millie and Liam are my No1
I didn't watch Casa Amor Grin

Haha I'd forgotten about the too nice comment. Which is basically saying she voted for those who she wasn't as close to, even if she thought other couples were actually less compatible, is it just me or does that not seem overly honest (something she prides herself on)?
PansyWeasley · 19/08/2021 12:02

@PumpkinKlNG

Although the first one is probably my least favourite, I’d say it’s definitely worth a watch. There’s a lot of drama and I like the smoking area where a lot of the good chats take place. On the downside, the majority of the men are vile. One of them even calls Caroline Flack a little rocket and seems to think she is a fellow islanders in the first episode. There are some great female islanders, though, and the boys are slightly more likeable towards the end.

It’s similar to Series 2 in a way. Raw and less polished than the later ones.
