I'm missing Hugo.
Everyone left is so identikit now, and he had the makings of a good running joke.
But the viewers' love (he was very popular initially) turned to scorn and that was it. There really is a very narrow set of expectations for the show. Which means that the entertaining asides get squeezed out.
It's probably not caused enough of a drop in viewing figures and online activities for the producers to care though. As long as SM hits are high, they're happy.
(It's the same approach as soaps have these days - never mind keeping long term fans any more, just churn out the next sensation to keep SM activity high. It's lost a lot of the 'traditional' viewers, as the nature of the programmes has changed so much - just look back to the Classic re-broadcasts - but as that's not the target they don't care)
