Did anyone happen to catch this fantastic programme last night about E finding out about his dad?

Dh thinks it's only me and a couple of old folk in the back of beyond that ever watch BBC4 but I just love it.

This programme about Parallel Universe theory put forward by E's dad was a gem. Mind blowing and E was fab!

Anyone else?

we always watch bb4 but missed this last night. it will hopefully be repeated.

policywonk · 27/11/2007 10:36

I wanted to watch is but went to gym instead. I work on the principle that everything on BBC4 is repeated at least twelve times before being shown on BBC2, so I usually catch up with things eventually.

it was fantastic, a subject I am interested in and an amusing guide, a good hour of telly

TinyGang · 27/11/2007 10:37

Catch it if you can! I don't pretend to understand it but it was so so interesting.

seems like it will be on again 3 dec at 12.00. shame as i can never see much tv on monday

It was a fabulous programme wasn't it? I loved the way he slow realised that his dad was actually a megastar of the physics world. Very emotional when he was listening to the tapes and could hear himself, as a child, playing the drums in the background

TinyGang · 27/11/2007 11:03

I know! The tapes were lovely weren't they? Very moving. I like E he is a clever chap and nice with it

He and his dad seem to have had almost no relationship or at least a strange one and yet he seems through this to have found him in some way.

You only have to listen to 'Electro Shock Blues' to know that E had a very strange relationship with his family.

Eels best album as far as I'm concerned, followed by 'Soul Jacker'.

cremolafoam · 27/11/2007 14:39

brilliant programme.Such a moving story and what a tragic family.Playing those tapes must have been terrifying- hearing yourself talking as a child and the voice of your Dad- how amazing.
Was just wondering if he is bi-polar as well- they didn't clarify that.

CripleH · 28/11/2007 00:06

Judging by Eels music it a certain possibility that he is.

Aitch · 28/11/2007 00:13

it was wonderful, i thought. actually emailed the producer to tell her how much i enjoyed it... [creep]

TinyGang · 28/11/2007 09:31

Oh nice one Aitch. How thoughtful I never think to do things like that.

When there's so much junk on the tv, it is good to acknowledge a well made programme.

she just about fell of her perch, right enough. bbc people are always [email protected], so it's easy to do.

Someone very close to me worked on it and will be quizzing me to make sure I watched it and I missed it. Apparently it is going to be shown about 8 more times and its on utube.
