Recommendations for comforting light watch

I've just finished watching The Durrells on Netflix. It's about a middle class British family who move to Corfu. It's very tame and uncool, opposite of gritty, but there was something so comforting and relaxing about it. There's lots of nice 30s fashion, beautiful interiors and of course stunning scenery of Corfu. I also enjoy the quaintness of their middleclassery. There's just something very... gentle sunday about it. I felt the same about Downton Abbey. Are there any other series that are similar in vibe that I can check out?

Not a drama series but Mortimer and Whitehouse Gone Fishing is a quiet and relaxing little treat of a tv show.

Shakespeare and Hathaway - on iplayer

Mallory Towers - although a childrens series, I think it should be put on mainstream tv. It fits your bill - gentle, innocent. Loved it. (Watched it ages ago on iplayer - haven’t checked to see if it’s still there). Definitely worth watching.

Brigerton - regency, but a little raunchy in parts, on Netflix.

Call the midwife I found comfortingly good and also enjoyed the period details - clothes, furnishings etc.

@purpleme12 I've just finished watching this and it was the perfect recommendation, you knew exactly what I was on about. It ticked all the boxes - quaint middleclasses going about their business, beautiful rural scenery, lovely period costume (love those farmer chunky knits). It even has one of the actors from The Durrells in it, the poor guy seems to have been typecast into playing a dumb & cocky but eventually loveable character! A bit of a shock to see a man shoulder deep up a cow's behind in the first episode but got used to that since it happened in pretty much EVERY EPISODE!

@cissyandbessy I think I might try Call The Midwife next

I watched the first few episodes of The Crown and couldn't get into it, but now I'm wondering if I should try it again and could it fit into this 'comfort TV' genre I'm craving these days!?
