Anyone see Gordon Ramsey last night?

Where he went to Paris and there was that awful woman who "owned" the restaurant that her dad was paying for. Could not believe how bad her attitude was.

And taking that poor Scottish chef on who moved all the way to Paris and then the restaurant was closed down the next week. I was so happy when Gordon gave her a job.

I used to hate intensly dislike Gordon, but since this new series began, I have started to fancy warm to him.
What a spoilt brat that Rachel was though. God! She so needs a wake up call.

aDadGoneMad · 07/11/2007 14:56

I saw the last minute of the prog and realised DP and I have eaten in that restaurant about 5 or 6 years ago- not too many veggie restaurants in Paris.

The food was incredibly average and the place so small, I just dont know how they could make any money at all. Not at all surprised it closed!

Elizabetth · 07/11/2007 14:56

I thought her dad came across as a complete arse - all the man to man back-slapping with Ramsay and enjoying watching his daughter getting slagged off.

Ramsay usually manages to connect with the people he's helping but he seemed more interested in bonding with her Dad over how lazy she was than finding out the real reason she was so disinterested. I didn't like it at all when Ramsay called her a "little bitch" - he was really spiteful.

This is the first programme where I haven't liked Ramsay.

I loved the show last night. Would love to know where India is now/what she is doing, she came across really well on the show.

is repeated sunday nights more4 i think (was watching old season on there and disappointed it turned into repeats of new season).

has anyone actually been to any of the restaurants that have been on the programme? was planning to go walnut tree in ?abergavenny i think? until my mum pointed out it had been on and put me off. should i go for research purposes?

puppydavies · 07/11/2007 15:00

aha cross posts adad

aDadGoneMad · 07/11/2007 15:05

It's the only one I've been to I think! Odd little place - made an effort to find it as it was veggie DP's birthday.

Think they specialised in gratins so we ordererd one each and they were pretty poor. Cute little place though.

I know brighton folk who have been to momma cherrry's in Brighton and said it was ok.

Wisteria · 07/11/2007 15:10

I think GR was spot on with 'little bitch' to be honest......

She was a spoilt cow and I would have loved that opportunity.

However to try to be fair (although I'm strugling with this one), no one ever knows the full story do they and we don't know what her childhood was like, her Dad may have been trying to make up for transgressions in the past.

saltire · 07/11/2007 15:10

I actually said to DH "I bet Ramsey poaches that India girls away to his restaurant" and then the end of the episode he had. I wonder if she's still there.
I cringed through most of last nights episode thinking "what a bad example of a Scot".We're not all alzy

PestoMonster · 07/11/2007 15:18

aDadGoneMad I went to Momma Cherries last year and the food was ok, but they served up lots of dishes on a lazy susan and gave you tiny side plates. The idea being that you took a bit, then a bit more as you went on. Howevever, the downside was that there were no burners to keep the food warm. So when you went to refill your plate, the food had gone cold.
However, Brighton school dinner menues have incorporated a whole load of her menu ideas and they are going down a storm in my dds' school. In fact my dd2 was in the local rag on Friday commenting on them (and 3 photos too!)

aDadGoneMad · 07/11/2007 15:27

And you have every right to be proud for your dd making the local paper!

And i am not surprised that kind of thing would go down well as school dinner food. Better than my own memory of school dinners anyway...

So glad there's a thread on this!

She struck me as the type who's never taken responsibility for anything in her life, always 'stressed', always got an excuse, always someone else's fault. She and Stephanie were a fine pair.

I thought GR was pretty restrained frankly and the dad was ashamed of her.

Brilliant that India got some work with him in the end. It was a great episode - never seen one where the business doesn't turn around before but with someone like that there wasn't a hope.

gscrym · 07/11/2007 15:47

I was quite surprised when one of them needed to have a sleep and disappeared for hours and the other one had to go home for the afternoon to feed her pregnant cat.

She also didn't seem that fazed that there were loans on the business that hadn't been paid. I was quite impressed by how much they took for tomato soup and toasted cheese at lunchtime.

DH went in a big huff when I switched it over before the end of the credits.

I wonder what business Rachel is playing at now.

ProfYaffle · 07/11/2007 16:05

I was really at the first chef, he seemed drunk to me.

NAB3littlemonkeys · 07/11/2007 16:22

I wonder if she is still friends with the waitress who walked out? She said she was committed to her friend but didn't need all this. What she wanted to say was probably that she didn't want to be told what to do by GR.

VanillaPumpkin · 07/11/2007 19:35

Oh yes, what a total cow she was! Stupid bints both of them.

Botbot · 07/11/2007 20:30

She seemed like a complete stoner to me.

saltire · 08/11/2007 16:48

Saw this in the Daily Ranger Record today and thought I'd post it for you all to see

NAB3littlemonkeys · 08/11/2007 16:51

Great!

tribpot · 08/11/2007 16:52

Is it repeated? I couldn't record it as it clashed with Spooks.

lulu25 · 08/11/2007 16:56

botbot that's what i thought. "my cat's just given birth" yeah right.

lulu25 · 08/11/2007 16:56

but that india... WHERE did they find her? i would put money on seeing her on TV again.

puppydavies · 08/11/2007 16:59

a week's work experience? hmm i thought prog made it look rather more generous than that...

is repeated sun night more4 iirc

saltire · 08/11/2007 17:09

I suppose though, for any young chef to be given work experience by a proffesional chef is what you dream of - be it a week or a month. Also it is good to see she has a job.
