There seems to be a social media shut down.
I can't be the only one that watched both documentaries on this?

I was wondering that too. I haven't watched it yet but would like to as his mum has given it her backing. I wondered what people will have thought about it. Of course, it will be heartbreaking to watch. Just thinking about that beautiful baby boy and the story being back in the news, I've not being able to stop crying about it the last few days. I have a son the exact same age now as James was and I know the story breaks nearly everyone's heart to this day and angers us still. But Denise Fergus is such a strong, inspirational woman, I wanted to watch the programme as she said she's proud of it. I know it has her family in it too and talks about the charity so we can at least see there's some good in her life as she's had to endure such pain.

I watch all sorts of tv including ‘true crime’ documentaries
I couldn’t bear to watch this at all and had to switch of in under a minute
It’s like it was yesterday - I cannot imagine the grief of his family
Maybe it’s the age of the perpetrators or the circumstances or just geographically close to home but it’s just unbearable
Much love to all who have suffered

The strength of Denise Fergus amazes me! She has been through absolute hell while remaining dignified.

TLKlover · 12/03/2021 11:01

I agree, she appears so dignified in everything she does.

Although it was an incredibly sad programme to watch, it was lovely to see the charity they have set up in his memory and how they have moved on as a family.

I was the same age as J &R when this happened & I think my mum purposely shielded me from all the intricate details. I was aware of it & saddened by it then however to watch it now as an adult with children of my own, you realise the impact it had on the family, local community and I would say most parents of children moving forward.

It just threw me that no-one seemed to be mentioning it anywhere. I feel it was very carefully done in order not to cause more upset to the family.

Such a shocking crime, what those 2 boys did is utterly horrifying. The 3 mile walk when at any point they could have given James up to one of the concerned witnesses and said they had found him wandering or something.

The family are so dignified and what lovely sons Denise has.

It's just shocking that while Venables keeps reoffendjng and is in and out of prison, the other one is living a free life after only 7 years in a secure children's home. No punishment whatsoever.

I remember. I was teaching and was struck by the shock and horror felt by our Yr7 children whose reaction included fear that suddenly all 10/11 year olds would be regarded as potential killers. They included a boy whose aunt refused to let him take her two year old twins to the park!

diddl · 17/03/2021 07:15

Horrific, wasn't it?

The intent behind it & the intent to do it, or so it seems to me.

terraclutter · 19/03/2021 13:06

Just finished watching both episodes.
So heartbreaking, I'm in awe at what a brave, courageous and inspiring Mother Denise is.
I'm glad she met her now husband and has a beautiful family.
I wonder why this has been made at this time ?
Such a sad part of British History.
The James Bulger charity is a lovely tribute to a beautiful boy.
