OJ - the main thing for the older kids was just that; 'to talk', not hide things, but am not sure how that works with autism I'm afraid.

I can't talk now as shattered and over emotional but thinking of you x

I watched last weeks' episode and sobbed the whole way through.

I watched this for the first time tonight - what an amazing program.

Very moving, but inspiring too.

I sobbed through both episodes, DH cried through the first and refused to watch the second. I really hope to never have to use the ideas in the show but think the ideas are wonderful.

onlyjoking and mummydoit my heart goes out to you.

My maternal grandmother died very young and I know my mum and her siblings would have loved to have some reminders. As it is they only have one or two pictures of their mother which they have had to copy and share around.

I really like the idea of enclosing something with a scent you often wear so they can smell it and remember. I also like the idea of the recordings so they can see/hear you. They also said to put in everyday messages not just for special occasions and for older children the most treasured item is often a personal letter written directly to them given after the person has gone.

This has been heart breakingly good. The Kiddies, the whole families have been so very brave and dignified. god bless them all.

i find this extremely heartbreaking but compelling viewing. i have started a few projects for my dd (scrapbook, journal and memory box) but what prompted me was that i have nothing at all from my baby days (photos stolen, birth cert lost) and i didnt want my dd to grow up with nothing to look back on. plus none of us are getting any younger and there will be things that i forget to tell her. Having watched the programme though i think i will make a more concerted effort to keep it all up to date.

i work in a hospice, so sadly i experience these situations all the time

amazing program

the maturity and selflessness of those children

The Mummy Diaries - what an amazing and emotional programme but also inspirational and thought provoking.

Seeing the 12 year old girl sobbing broke my heart but I thought even that scene was handled in a sensitive way. All of the children have been so very brave and mature, a lot of adults could watch and learn from their behaviour.

IMO a lot of thought, care, consideration and love has gone into the making of this programme, on the Channel 4 website you can read interviews with Julie Stokes and the programme's director which confirm my own feelings.

My heart really does go out to anybody in a similar situation.
