Loved both those series. Looking for new recommendations! Young people, friends, love, irreverent/dark humour. I need something to line up for my next viewing. Any recommendations appreciated! I have Netflix & Amazon prime. Thanks in advance!

Fresh meat - ch4
Some girls - bbc 3
Ghosts - bbc
Motherland - bbc

None of these are new, but do have the friends/love/funny theme. I can’t do them justice describing but they’re all v funny!

Mucklemore · 07/03/2021 22:16

Love
And another one on Netflix I'll try and remember the name of

Mucklemore · 07/03/2021 22:19

Remembered - easy
Shrill was good as well

Mucklemore · 07/03/2021 22:20

Ooh and have you seen the michaela Cole ones - chewing gum, may I destroy you?

Beamur · 07/03/2021 22:22

Dead pixels
Ghosts (not much romance but is quite funny)

SwayingInTime · 07/03/2021 22:25

Can you stream ‘pulling’ anywhere? Fits this slot perfectly. ‘Being human’ is available in full too. Will follow this thread for recommendations less than a decade old though!

Killing Eve series 1 as it's also written by Fleabag (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) and does actually have themes of female love and friendship, and very dark humour

It's old and not very well known (mostly due to having an all-female cast) but the series Pulling, by Sharon Horgan (Catastrophe). Very funny, and sometimes quite dark, series about a group of young women looking for love. It's so good and never had the recognition it deserved!

milinhas · 07/03/2021 22:25

Lovesick, Sex Education, The End of the F**king World - all on Netflix

PopcornFiend · 07/03/2021 22:26

Ooh, thanks! Only seen motherland (loved it) and fresh meat (wasn’t so keen) from those mentioned. Will check out the others!

Oh also It’s A Sin on Channel 4 (but it’s very sad)

JovialNickname · 07/03/2021 22:27

Great minds think alike @SwayingInTime !

SwayingInTime · 07/03/2021 22:27

And ‘crashing’. All verb titles from me.

ArosGartref · 07/03/2021 22:27

Back to Life
Orphan Black (it's sort of sci fi but it has the relationship angle and dark humour)
Coupling (old but good)
Crazy Ex Girlfriend
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
Glow

SwayingInTime · 07/03/2021 22:27

Yes indeed!

RonSwansonsChair · 07/03/2021 22:28

Catastrophe, it's on All4

KnittingNurse · 07/03/2021 22:29

Another vote for love on Netflix. Also crazy ex girlfriend if you haven’t seen it.
And friends from college, working moms both worth a watch. Hard to live up to girls and fleabag though!

PopcornFiend · 07/03/2021 22:30

Seen catastrophe and it was brilliant so will def check out Pulling - Sharon Horgan is great (loved her in Game Night too)

Finally someone else who has seen Lovesick and The End of the Fucking World! Both breath shows
Littlefluffyclouds13 · 07/03/2021 22:34

End of the f**king world and sex education are bloody amazing!
If you liked motherland, try 'duchess' it's on Netflix

MorvaanReed · 07/03/2021 22:35

Broad City.

PopcornFiend · 07/03/2021 22:40

Thanks all for the recommendations! I’ve added Love and the Duchess to my Netflix watch list, and found Pulling on sky so downloaded that. Cheers all, I’m set for a wee while now!

The Letdown - Netflix
Shrill - iplayer
Better Things - iplayer
There's also a Julia Davis one. Camping? I think it's called.

Pulling is one of my all time faves

Blancah · 07/03/2021 22:47

Crashing, it's on Netflix. Written by and starring Phoebe Walker-Bridge. It's what she wrote before Fleabag, I believe.
