Hi ladies,
Just after some recommendations for TV series that me and DS age 12 might enjoy together.
We have loved: Friday night dinner, Outnumbered, Kobra Kai, My family etc
He is watching Mandolorian with DH. We have Netflix, Disney+ and Virgin.
Not sure if Stranger Things would be too Sci-if (for me).
Luckily he still likes a cuddle on the sofa with his Mum, so want to make the most of it.
Thanks

Mine likes daft humour like Father Ted.

bornonvalentines · 09/02/2021 18:13

Ghosts! On BBC or Gold atm.

tenlittlecygnets · 09/02/2021 18:17

Miranda

Or programmes about subjects he likes - my ds loves nature so we watch wildlife documentaries.

Blabla81 · 09/02/2021 18:17

My almost 10 year old dd has loved Ghosts, Anne with an E and the Good Place.

Doublechins · 09/02/2021 18:20

Once upon a time is good
Grimm
Sherlock

My DS is watching something with an alien in it on sky one at the minute but I can't remember the name

polanama · 09/02/2021 18:23

Task master - tons of episodes on catch-up (channel 4) including
PG versions

Neighneigh · 09/02/2021 18:29

Came on to recommend BBC's Ghosts, our ten year old loved it and so did we. There are two series and I hope there will be more

covetingthepreciousthings · 09/02/2021 19:16

Taskmaster or Ghosts.

If you watched Friday Night Dinner and enjoyed it you might both enjoy Cuckoo (will be on iplayer or Netflix), but it's been a while since I watched it so might want to check it's appropriate but it's similar comedy to Friday Night Dinner..

covetingthepreciousthings · 09/02/2021 19:17

Brooklyn 99 on Netflix?

bridgertonian · 09/02/2021 19:18

I could have written your post, DS loved all those and i did to. Wasn’t keen on Stranger Things.....I’ll be watching this thread with interest for ideas.

BoysRule · 09/02/2021 19:23

Disenchantment
Ghosts
Modern Family

MoChridhe · 09/02/2021 19:24

Definitely once upon a time

Pinkpanthershow · 09/02/2021 21:08

My DS and I enjoyed Locke & Key on Netfix

peasinmysoup · 09/02/2021 21:56

Taskmaster, ghosts, Locke & key, Big Bang theory.
Mine also like the crappy daytime crime drama like midsummer murders and death in Paradise

Luzina · 09/02/2021 21:57

Modern Family

FloralCarpet · 09/02/2021 21:59

Moone Boy - we loved it
Schitt’s Creek

I was going to suggest once upon a time on Disney plus too - I watched originally by myself. DD is now old enough to watch it and we watch it together she is loving the twist on the fairy tales and how the stories all intertwine.

I found stranger things a bit to scary for dd ( she's 11, I won't let her watch it as she'd have nightmares)

whaa · 09/02/2021 22:23

Bookmarking! We all loved cobra Kai, Locke and key , ghosts, also lost in space went down well. And the it crowd - it is occasionally a bit grown up but suspect it went over 12 yr olds head.
Great thread, it’s so hard to find something to entice him out of his room 😢

Timtims · 10/02/2021 07:30

I was just about to post same question, as I have 2 DCs similar age to OPs. We've just finished Cobra Kai, which they loved. Their biggest hit previously was Stranger Things. I'm just keen to try to get them out of their rooms for an hour in the evening.

DH is also a factor as he doesn't like anything too twee, although we have all enjoyed things like Bake Off, but I think the DCs are wanting something a bit more edgy!!

Would Once Upon a Time fit the bill? Does it fall into the twee or edgy camp?

Timtims · 10/02/2021 07:31

To add, my DCs also loved Mandalorian and Sherlock.

Hi everyone,
Sorry, got distracted with the cleaning and promptly forgot to check back.
Some great suggestions on here thanks, first port of call will be ghosts.
Like the murder mystery idea too, I love Christie but he won't entertain it as it's too old fashioned.
Also Sister Sister and Babysitters club on Netflix were good.

Definitely not stranger things. First series was good. Second series was a bunch of twelve year olds swearing their heads off. Rather disgusting and disappointing as my husband and I really enjoyed the first series those years ago.

covetingthepreciousthings · 10/02/2021 09:02

What about A Series Of Unfortunate Events?

TheGonnagle · 10/02/2021 09:08

Malcolm in the Middle
Father Ted
A series of unfortunate events

loopyapp · 10/02/2021 09:33

Lost in space
