Channel 4 now. Anyone watching? I'm finding it really hard to watch and listen to. How the undercover police do that job talking to perverts all day using that language I don't know, what an amazing job they do though.

It's really hard to watch but I want to see the conclusion of the man they've arrested.

I've started watching it. It's very difficult viewing. Did they need to be so explicit with what they showed? I feel that they didn't.

Mamatoabeauty · 09/02/2021 13:19

Why did I watch this I can’t get it out of my head. Those poor little children. I watched to the end hoping I’d see some justice but there wasn’t any/an adequate sentence. I wish there was something we could do to help stop it. Those police officers deserve a lot of recognition, it must ruin their lives. Only one way to deal with the paedos in my opinion is torture and death. How ridiculous is the rehabilitation program. The only paedo that doesn’t reoffend is a dead one. Why isn’t anything done to change the sentencing I just don’t understand..and the platform they use to chat on wtaf.

yetmorenamechanging · 09/02/2021 13:20

I think that unless you're explicit, people simply don't get it. And that's normal, and good even, because what sort of person would get it, barring those who work in the field or people who've lived through it?

This didn't start last year. Or the year before. It's been going on before the internet started end then has EXPLODED. There are men in the West who ORDER abuse in some poorer countries..and the parents carry out the abuse. Live-streamed. For money.

But what happens is that people see programmes like this and are truly horrified and then feel disempowered because in all honesty, if the police can't stop it, how can I?

Which is why I think people need to talk about it. Anything we can do on our end, is worth it if it stops just one kid, once being abused. These guys use real names because the public don't know what's happening, so it's not a pressing political issue and thrn police don't get extra funding for it.

I’m watching it now and whilst I agree is very explicit, I also agree that yes it’s necessary

I’ve heard people say “it’s just pictures! Not like he was actually doing it” but they don’t seem to get that in order for these pictures to be made...someone has to do it!

And like a PP said, the more people who want the pictures, the more children it will happen to Sad

Soubriquet · 09/02/2021 13:30

I used to love chat rooms as a kid....sorry dc, unless I’m way right next to you, no chat rooms for you.

I mean....I can’t believe how obvious they are being....on a ^childs* chat room

TheVolturi · 09/02/2021 13:36

I really can't watch anything like this, I could only read half of these comments, it really really affects me. I can't think of any reason these animals should be allowed to live, I would happily do the job of giving them all lethal injection.

Pebbledashery · 09/02/2021 13:36

I have now watched it and it was horrific! unnecessarily graphic! but also very informative and I will NEVER EVER be allowing my daughter into chatrooms!!
The first man that got caught, just no remorse AT ALL. He just looks like the type as well.
Sickening.

Mamatoabeauty · 09/02/2021 13:38

I finished watching it over an hour ago and my stomach is still churning. The last description of the video the officer watched is going round in a loop in my head. The chat platforms need to be shut down to start with. I know this won’t eradicate it but seems to be so easy for them. Fucking scumbags.

Soubriquet · 09/02/2021 13:42

I really don’t know what the solution is

It’s all very well saying it’s something they are born with (like being gay) but that doesn’t help matters

There aren’t enough rooms in prisons.
There aren’t enough officers to check on them daily
Chemical castration is shown not to work as they can just use other items
Death sentence....i don’t agree with it.

So what is the solution? Apart from parents keeping a much closer eye on their kids and not exploiting them this way either

Mamatoabeauty · 09/02/2021 13:45

They’re so manipulative too. That guy at the end was making out initially he knew he had “not normal” feelings and was looking to try and understand what he was feeling this way, claimed to look at pictures where he thought no harm was coming Hmm idiot...but then clearly had a horrific video..for a few W split second i actually thought god how awful for him to be like this but he was lying. Evil evil bastard. Why are they all so pathetic in their tone too ugh yuck!!

Soubriquet · 09/02/2021 13:46

I bet all officers involved need intensive counselling after these cases Sad

I couldn’t do it, and I take my hat off to those who fight

TheQueef · 09/02/2021 13:54

I think it is deliberately explicit.
I think the police are overwhelmed and need help with this boom in offending.
I think we need to be exposed to shock us into some action.

Hats off to the officers who do this job, I couldn't.

Soubriquet · 09/02/2021 14:10

Baby disruption...oh god. It must be worse than I can even imagine if the poor bloke had to stop the subject SadSad

Pebbledashery · 09/02/2021 14:31

I couldn't even fathom doing the job that these officers do..

Surely a good starting place would be holding the internet providers and websites to account? Making them socially responsible (tough ask I know considering we can’t even get most to pay tax!). The internet has been a great source of wealth for lots and its now time for them to start paying to keep their own house in order. No idea whether this means they should internally police it or whether there needs to be a massive levy to employ more specialist police officers. It annoys me so much that these big providers can earn great sums of money, yet seem to completely wash their hands of anything that goes on under their own noses!
TheQueef · 09/02/2021 14:50

I saw a Louis Theroux where they had a paedophile village with no outside access.
Someone had taken children there to visit Shock
With the volume of men interested in CSA we couldn't use prison it would have to be the limited benefit of chem castration.

Soubriquet · 09/02/2021 15:00

I think the problem with holding the websites accountable is that they will all find their way to the dark web which would make it harder to find them

TheQueef · 09/02/2021 15:07

Did you see how many requests they had in that space of timd, on that particular forum! If there are that many sickos on just 1% of forums the numbers must be huge.

I don’t think the perpetrators should go to prison, I think they should bring back the death sentence for these monsters.

TheQueef · 09/02/2021 15:26

We need to try something maybe chem castration as an alternative to register or criminal . For first time offences limited to images.
Anything in person should guarantee a custodial.

WingingItSince1973 · 09/02/2021 15:27

10 mins in and I had to switch it off. As a child abuse survivor I thought it would be good for me to watch to see justice but the explicit explanations were too much for me and not needed imo. Too descriptive.

Stacey Dooley did a documentary about this, the abuse carried out in other parts of the world. She was working with a police investigation to organise stings to catch these parents. The awful thing was the children were crying and screaming for their parents not to be taken away from them. There was no sense that this was actually going to be any better for the child. What kind of children's home or children's services were they going to be taken into? Sometimes family would look after them. It was awful, but yes I was glad there are people who can work on these investigations. I definitely couldn't.
Crazycatlady83 · 09/02/2021 16:28

@Soubriquet, but surely that’s not a good enough reason not to make the mainstream website site providers police their own sites. It was clear from the programme that it happened on mainstream and the dark web. If the mainstream providers could police their own sites, it might free up the police officers to police the dark web?

I have absolutely no idea how to punish these offenders - let’s face it, we don’t have enough prison cells to lock them up indefinitely or police / probation officers to monitor. At least with chemical castration it might make the offenders think twice! Proper consequences for their actions
