Anyone seen the case with Linda Couch who is abused by her husband for years and then kills him. I’m really torn with this one - just wondered what your thoughts are?

I'm torn. I was right with her until she said that she tripped over the bed and fired the gun accidentally. The police officer also revealed that her husband's gunshot wound was in the back of his head, which didn't fit with her account either. That said, I absolutely believed that she'd been the victim of abuse and it was so disturbing to hear various people say he was such a nice guy and therefore no way could he have been abusive and that they never saw any signs of violence etc.

Her episode bothered me more than any other.

She apparently tripped up and managed to shoot him in the back of the head while facing him.

She didn't call the police or an ambulance.

She kept him in the basement for a few days before digging a hole in the garden (maybe making her children help, maybe not depending on who you believe.)

It was only 10 days later when his parents questioned her that she admitted it.

A few weeks before hand the house was signed over to her.

A few days before the shooting she bought a gun for the first time and asked to be shown how to load it.

Her daughter does not agree with her story and testified against her.

The abuse was never ever mentioned in the original trial.

I don't doubt she was abused by her husband, but her story doesn't really make sense? But then if she was abused, obviously her reactions would be different as she would be traumatised etc. Children are not adults so their testimony might not be able to be relied on, they could have been influenced by the In Laws etc. Abuse may not have been reported previously due to fear.

So after all that, I'm on the fence!

I’ve just finished watching the whole series. It’s quite harrowing listening to everyone give accounts of their childhood. The one that disturbed me the most was the man who had suffered traumatic physical abuse and also sexual abuse (Ruby case).

Yes totally in the fence. I had to watch it again!

We have watched them all. So many common denominators - abuse, neglect and abandonment as children, drugs and lack of schooling and poor parenting in most cases. So sad, and so many young lives ruined, not just the victims but the perpetrators as well. A few seemed maybe remorseful and perhaps would be capable of leading a better life once released, if ever, but are probably too damaged and would be unable to exist outside prison after being institutionalised for so long. So many seemed to have never had a job before committing their crime.
