I've really enjoyed the new Attenborough series, Perfect Planet, and fancy some more documentaries this week. I've had big chunks of time with no TV and only just got Netflix so I'm sure there are loads I've missed over the last few years but I don't know where to look. Does any have any recommendations??

To start it off, some that I loved are:
Art of Persia
Monty Don's Paradise Gardens
Michael Palin's Travels of a Lifetime
Gordon Buchanan's Wild
Also liked Untamed Romania on Netflix and like most Simon Reeves documentaries.

Couldn't get along with Walking with Elephants and Levison Wood generally (I find he's so busy shouting about the danger he's in that I don't see much of the place he is visiting)

Yesterday we watched "Natural History Museum: World of Wonder". (Title might not be 100% accurate). Behind the scenes at the Natural History Museum in London, including the background of the echo and what various workers do for cleaners to scientists to managers. It was on Channel 5.

That sounds good, I always forget about Channel 5 but have seen some surprising ones there.

Any others that might be available on catch up?

I like Sue Perkins' series. Japan, Mekong River and Ho Chi Minh mini series. There are some touching moments, especially in the Mekong River series.

Ohh thanks. I wanted to love that as it's an amazing place but I didn't warm to Sue's style.

I recommended it on another thread, but on Netflix is a fascinating series of bitesize episodes called Flavourful Origins, which highlights unusual and surprising food in rural China. It is particularly well shot.

If you like south east Asia, Rick Stein's East Asian Odyssey is also fascinating, although the cinematography is slightly dated now.

Magical Andes on Netflix is also very good.

Magical Andes was beautiful. I would so love to go there.
I'll definitely look up Flavourful Origins especially is visually beautiful - thanks for the tip!
I've only seen one Rick Stein and didn't love it but perhaps I should try again. The first time I watched one of the Romesh Ranganathan documentaries I thought he was a patronising prat and then they really grew on me as you could see how he formed quite genuine connections with people.
