Any Swedish or Danish speakers watching The Bridge?

I'm not sure if they are speaking Swedish or Danish but they speak a lot for a single sentence of English
Are the subtitles pared down or do they need more words to say what we say?
I'm loving the series

Ã…benbart ikke

Excellent series though.

They speak both Swedish and Danish, depending on who is speaking. The languages are similar so Danish and Swedish people can often understand eachother reasonably well.
I've not watched with the English subtitles though so cant really say how accurate they are.

Yes, they often don't translate bits.

Subtitles never tell the whole story, they have to abridge a bit. The biggest lol for us Swedes is how well all the Swedes understand Danish in that series - in reality there's a fair bit of English as a lingua franca normally ;)

There's a whole scene in the first series which is basically about the Swedes not being able to say Martin's surname, if I remember correctly they didn't bother translating that interchange at all.

I'm only speak a bit of Danish, most of the time it's enough to work out they haven't translated 100% correctly but not necessarily fully understand what they have said. I then annoy the other half who is Danish when i pause it and then replay and ask him to tell me what they really said.

I'm thoroughly enjoying it even if bits are missing
I keep turning the volume up, I have no idea whyGrin
