Just popped this thread on for discussion about this programme (on bbc iplayer), i.e. for those who have watched all of it. Don’t feel right calling it a spoiler thread as it’s not a drama, it really happened and a poor baby died.

Just finished watching this documentary. And found it incredibly frustrating, mainly due to the fact that we only really got the defences side of the story.
Many people on here have pointed out the total lack of blood in the car, and I like them could not get my head around this.
We all assume that Ashley gave birth and haemorrhaged, and with the amount of blood that we saw in the bedroom and bathroom, how on earth did that not get transferred to the car, and if she, as they claim had lost 2 litres of blood, would it be possible to even walk never mind drive??
The only possible answer is, she did not haemorrhage at the time of birth, but later after she wrapped the child up, drove it to the park and returned to the house.
I did some investigation and found this;
Postpartum hemorrhage (also called PPH) is when a woman has heavy bleeding after giving birth. It's a serious but rare condition. It usually happens within 1 day of giving birth, but it can happen up to 12 weeks after having a baby.
I believe if we had heard from the prosecution this may have been their verdict, as it's the only one that makes any sense.

What a terrible story - poor baby.

I found the documentary itself poor quality. Did Ashley just say she couldn't remember anything? Kennard's story also didn't make sense and he denied entering the bathroom and then later admitted it and that some bloody socks would be found in the house.

I didn't really understand Ashley's confession either. She said she spoke to the baby and told her that someone else would look after her but then she left her in a freezing park in the middle of the night.

A lot is left unexplained. I would like to hear the prosecution's case.

Bumping up this thread to show the person who created a new one about it!

I just watched this last night.
Key things that didn’t seem to add up:

  • The car. One, not a speck of blood in it. She lost five pints. There would be blood everywhere. Also, if she was mad, why did she drive slowly and indicate? I’m sure on the cctv, there was a band across the wrist of the person driving ( a watch perhaps). She also was meant to have left her child while doing this- something her friends say she’s never done. His gun in the car too..
  • where the baby was found. A playground in the middle of the night. That makes no sense.
-Her husband not knowing she was pregnant. Those pictures of her first and third pregnancy showed she looked pregnant. You couldn’t hide that if you were having sex twice a week.
  • The amount of blood. No one who looses that amount of blood could make a rational choice let alone drive. How her husband thought she was just on her period is bull.

I think he knew all along she had a baby. I think he dumped it. But I don’t know why she wouldn’t say anything unless it would ruin her plea for being in a state of madness. I don’t think her defence looked into things throughly.

Really left a lot of questions, didn't it? I felt like this could have been better handled by soneone like Louis Theroux. The interview subjects were holding back, which left it lacking.

Yes he would have been brilliant.

I got half way through Ep4 and it was so repetitive .
I lost the will to spend any more time .

The legal team seemed so woolly .
Ashley displayed no emotion though the clever editing may have been responsible .

Cannot help thinking when they showed the park taped off there were a dozen houses nearby , any one of which they could have left the baby on the doorstep and knocked till a door was opened (then ran) rather than leave the baby abandoned

I have tried to read all comments so forgive me if this has been mentioned... the young girl had joined the army which is a known sign of desired acceptance so it is completely believable that she is covering for her ex. Who arrives home and sees a bloody massacre and doesn’t report it? A guilty party.

They hadn't long been in Alaska. I wonder if they just didn't realise how cold it was outside?
