I only watched this last night, and in fact found it much easier watching, although the issues were as hard as the others.

Lots of strong pro-active women.

Ends on positivity!

But wonder whether many of the educational issues for children from minority groups aren't still there. Sad

There is a huge legacy left behind by the Daulton Report, we aren't even close to fixing this. Afro-Caribbean boys are permanently excluded at a much higher rate than other groups. Their grades are often under-estimated in predictions (consider how that would have affected this year's cohort), there are a lack of black teachers in schools... So many issues still to address.

Kehinde Andrews has written a kind of modern take on the Bernard Coard work mentioned in the film, and it's not looking good.

Yes and the knock on consequences of being excluded. No alternative support. Street life which often means gangs. And younger children gravitating towards them because being alone on the street is scary.

I've just looked up the statistics for exclusion and in fact it says the highest rate of exclusion is pupils for Gypsy/Roma and Irish Traveller communities. Then Black Caribbean

This is just a quick read as quite a lot of statistics.
