God! Those firefighters were superb. And the Proctor of Notre Dame is a cu*tGrin

And she could practically feel herself bursting into flames, but didn't like to mention it - I'll bet the Service de Pompiers is phenomenally sexiste, bless her.

I remember being shown around on a sort of behind-the-scenes tour of Hampton Court, where they have had at least one very serious fire in recentish memory. They said they now have meticulous plans for evacuation which certainly prioritises people, and all the warders get training on all the little private routes around the palace so that they can get tourists out even if the normal ones are blocked. What particularly stuck in my mind was that they said that the plans include provision for a number of staff to run into the palace to rescue whatever they can, and that they practise things like taking down the mahoosive tapestries so that they can get them off the walls and out really quickly. Not too sure that I'd be volunteering for that if I worked there.

Yes. There is a book about a fire at a National trust property. Up park in 1989. They also had emergency pls s to get things out. As did Windsor castle in 1992.
