MorticiasMother · 17/10/2007 23:37

Not on your nelly! I don't want that last thing at night.

NormanBatesFletcher · 17/10/2007 23:38

yep - watched most of it

pud1 · 18/10/2007 09:12

i watched it while my own 24 week old fetus wiggled away inside me. cried through most of it. dont know why i did not turn it off. felt compeled to keep watching

ClaphamLauren · 18/10/2007 09:22

Same here pud (well I'm 21 weeks) and I cried throughout - also couldn't turn off.

Where they showed the toes and fingers was the bit that really got me

pud1 · 18/10/2007 09:33

i am really trying not to be all " perfect world" about it but i really think that for some one to abort at 20 - 24 weeks there must be horrific circumstance. i can sort of understand if a 20 week scan brought up massive problems but cant think of any other reason. Even in the event of a rape you would be able to have the op sooner. Or am i just being rose tinted

it was just channel 4's usual shock tv so i am not even sure that we should give it any more fuel by talking about it although i agree that it is a subject that needs serious debate for the law to be changed.
i have a friend that went for an abortion a few years ago, she go t ot he hospital and was gowned up ready to go into theatre. she had thought it all through carefully but when it came down to it she couldnt go through with it and she now has a lovely little girl who is about 3. i do think that women ahould be made aware of the procedure so that they are able to make an informed choice

I think, is there not, an act reducing the number of weeks a termination can take place being presented to parliament. I ca only imagine it was the programme makers effort to get the general public onside?

I have terminated a pregnancy because of fetal abnormality and I do not want the current legislation changed as it will cause a lot of problems for women like me who do not know there is a problem until 20 weeks + and then need further testing/screeming before thgey can make a decision.

That being said, terminating for social reasons is an entirely different kettle of fish but that being said I would not want to take away a womans choice. However, I also feel so very torn for those poor inoocent babies. It is so very sad

I know they said we have the latest number of weeks in Europe that a termiantion can take place, does anyone know how late you can terminate a pregnancy in other countries?

choufleur · 18/10/2007 19:14

i turned off quite early on into the prog but i think i remember hearing something about a 12 week cut off in a lot of eurpean countries for for terminations for social reason, but they can still terminate later for medical ones, such as the mothers life at risk or severe foetal abnormalities. if that is correct it sounds much better to me.
i do believe that woman should have the right to abort but having seen what a baby looks like at a 20 week scan with my ds think the current law is wrong in its cut off point.
