Who else saw this? I thought it was a beautifully-made tribute, with all of the genuine heartfelt memories from family, friends and people he worked closely alongside. I'm so glad they got Tommy to present it, rather than an unconnected personality who specialises in solemn voiceovers.
Maybe it was actually for the richer that Bobby was no longer the huge A-list star, so there weren't endless celebs crawling out of the woodwork to gatecrash, desperate to get themselves some kudos and PR by association, because they once met somebody who used to know his milkman's aunt.
I would have liked a few more clips from Not Going Out, but I'm aware that a lot of them might not have been suitable for 5:30pm on a Sunday; also, the 'loveable rogue' nature of the character he played meant that any clips wouldn't have come across as very complimentary to him as an actor!
I shall miss Bobby being on our screens - it's another part of my childhood gone. I just hope that, when Tommy's time comes, he doesn't get overlooked with the recognition for his invaluable part in their joint success, just because he was the quieter straight man.
A lot of double acts get on well together behind the scenes and some can't even stand the sight of each other off-screen; but it's plain as can be that these were two men who were the very closest of friends for pretty much their whole adult lives. Tommy looks absolutely heartbroken, bless him
