This is a sort of off shoot of Who Do You Think You Are. And I think the format, ie the way the show is put together, has become a bit tired and predictable.

But of course the stories, real life facts, do overcome that.

So devastating to watch, and hard to believe that so many people could have taken part in what was almost an industrial approach to mass slaughter.

Episode 1 has already been broad cast and the second episode is next monday www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000pbwk

I thought that this was such a powerful portrayal, so human. Who is it who writes about the story of the individual being the story of the general?

Saw this on iPlayer and hope to catch up over weekend. Robert Rinder's WDYTYA was very moving. I still can't believe this all happened.

I watched episode 2 and have to say I thought the format really let down this important stories.

I'm hoping that given some of the incredible people who were briefly shown will be followed up somehow.

The increbibly brave young woman working for the resistance. And the 90+ man the only remaining survivor of Treblinka. He deserves a whole programme.

I've watched the first programme -I thought it was tremendously moving.

Was waiting for the 2nd to b available.

Yes it was a shame that Leon's part seemed to be tacked onto the end. It would have been good to see him interviewed with a translator.

Otherwise I thought both episodes were very good.

I didn't 'enjoy' the programme but I was incredibly moved. Very moving, no one will ever touch the right note for everybody as it's such a personal journey for so many. I thought Rob Rinder was incredibly sensitive.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/11/2020 07:40

So did I, StopGo.

I've liked him since Strictly, but was even more impressed with this gentle side to him. Also impressed that he was speaking fluent Polish (or maybe Czech). It seemed particularly touching with that elderly lady who didn't speak English that he comforted her directly.

peonia · 18/11/2020 10:06

That lady was in Belarus, they were speaking Russian.

Aah! Thank you peonia.

It's been a couple of weeks since I watched it and I couldn't remember.
