Theclosetpagan · 08/10/2007 21:26

I can't watch at all - not very brave of me I know but I honestly could not bear it.

MamaMaiasaura · 08/10/2007 21:30

I dont think i can either. Puts things in perspective tho like you said. Just gone and kissed sleeping ds.

NotAnOtter · 08/10/2007 21:33

it is shocking
its barbaric the way these people have to live

QuootieSpookypie · 08/10/2007 21:39

I can't believe in 2007 these things happen... and so covered up.

MamaMaiasaura · 08/10/2007 21:40

poor woman having to give birth in a sty.

daisycat01 · 08/10/2007 22:07

This is so terrible, how can he sell his own son???

Thomcat · 08/10/2007 22:10

DP's cousin was the cameraman for this.

Very, very sad. Sitting her cuddling my 2 week old and prayed that she'll always be safe and then realised prayer won't help me one bit

daisycat01 · 08/10/2007 22:14

Really?? God he must have been very brave and strong mentaly. I keep crying, the thought of losing my ds's....its too much.

Thomcat · 08/10/2007 22:16

Not sure he's especially strong mentally, but guess he must have made himself so to get through that. He has 2 young kids himself. I'm looking forward to seeing him again and asking him more about it now I've seen it.

NotAnOtter · 08/10/2007 22:16

it is soo horrific that you cannot believe this is now!

I know, I keep forgetting that this is present day, it almost seems like it is filmed years ago. Why doesnt the government want to help?

heartbreaking wasn't it? Very close to home for me, I went to an adoption meeting on Sunday which included a lot of chinese girls. Very hard to separate the individual need these children have to grow up in a family (and adoption certainly the better option than being sold into god knows what), and the desire to stop all adoptions and say to the Govt - sort this fucking mess out.

Heartbreaking for chidlren of my friends ( who are in their early teens now) to watch that programme and know what horrific choices their birth parents had.

NotAnOtter · 08/10/2007 22:35

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 08/10/2007 22:37

it is a "good idea" policy for the greater good of China. Terrible consequences for the individuals though.

Lubyloo · 08/10/2007 22:41

So shocking and absolutely heartbreaking. I had never fully considered the consequences of the One Child Policy. Can't believe that children born without a birth permit are 'non persons'. It's very difficult to watch.

QuootieSpookypie · 08/10/2007 22:56

I can't believe 'Bringing up the Baby@ has provoked more response than this has

Justers · 08/10/2007 23:00

I agree it was so difficult to watch that i had to switch it off.

dolally · 08/10/2007 23:02
