Can anyone recommend a tv series to start watching with my 11 year old? He likes football, animals, etc! We've done lots of the Attenborough series etc!

My 11 year old likes to watch Malcolm in the Middle together. It it being re-run on one of the channels so our Sky box is recording them.

Guineapigbridge · 06/09/2020 21:57

Stranger Things

lexloofah · 07/09/2020 20:24

It's a tricky inbetween age isn't it? Mine has exhausted Fresh Prince and Simpsons, won't try Dr. Who, hoping for more ideas on here.

WhatwouldJudydo · 07/09/2020 21:00

I loved stranger things but I think that might be a bit too creepy for him! Malcolm in the middle and fresh price are a good shout! I'll have a look at some of the others as haven't heard of them!

Funnily enough he requested Simpson's but I would rather watch something with a good storyline that continues on if that makes sense?

I have also seen Netflix I think are doing a Jurassic World Series? So I think we might give that a look?

Race Across the World if he likes geography and travel

Modern Family? Watched it with my 12 year old after we watched Friends when he was 11.

Standrewsschool · 07/09/2020 21:24

Screamingeels · 04/10/2020 09:47

Good question- with my 10 year old - I've watch English Game; the Durrels; modern family; everybody hates chris; bake off. Troll hunters.

He is really specific in what he will/ won't watch so its hard. Tons and tons of kids series/ sci fi/ fantasy etc. I can't get him anywhere near. Somehow think
Watching something together with some plot is better for him than hours of you tube which is what he'd do left to his own devices.

RosemaryTelephoneOperator · 06/10/2020 20:03

Emily Holmes on Netflix (Sherlock's Sister)

Umbrella Academy

FrankieStein402 · 17/11/2020 12:21

My 11yr old is currently hooked on Netflix' "Nailed IT" - a very American 'bad baking' show that is actually a hoot without being unkind.
Would second 'Stranger Things' - we had that on repeat for almost a year.

BookSkark · 17/11/2020 12:27

DS (nearly 11!) find The Goes Wrong Show hilarious (iPlayer). He's also a big fan of Outnumbered, Top Gear (past and present, especially the specials), The Gadget Show, The iT Crowd and several post-watershed comedies that he probably shouldn't be watching.

None of those are really a series in the way I think you mean though - more standalone. For something with a plot (ish!) we tend to go for the Marvel films.
