Ugh. Typo in title. Sorry.

They are 8 and 6 and they've watched a few shows (Shaun the sheep, Danger Mouse) since quite young and are now switching over to a bit more. On holiday we put on early morning CBBC instead of CBeebies, as the shows were better. The just-before-school slot (8-8.30) is not great on CBBC though. And they watch a lot of on demand TV.

Youngest is 7 and pretty much no CBeebies now. Transition took a while though

purpleme12 · 01/09/2020 08:32

6 she started watching a bit. Pretty much Horrible Histories and The Worst Witch to start with.
Then a couple of others that were suitable if we had the Tele on.
I do look them up to see if they're more suited for older children or not at the minute (she's still 6)

BlackberrySky · 01/09/2020 08:33

Mine was a gradual transition in that they watched "exit level" Cbeebies alongside "entry level" CBBC shows for a while. They then found more of interest on CBBC and dropped Cbeebies. By the time my youngest was 7 we had stopped watching Cbeebies in our house.

Magicbabywaves · 01/09/2020 08:37

We’re moving over now, 5 and nearly 7 year old. We started with Horrible Histories and Dangermouse, but they’ve got into Junior Bake Off and Weird and Wild.

drspouse · 01/09/2020 08:41

We also like Boy, Girl etc, Dennis the Menace, The Deep. They prefer Horrible Histories in snippets on YouTube, and while I like Worst Witch they tend to lose interest after a bit!

CarrieFour · 01/09/2020 08:44

Thanks. Sounds about the same here.

Mainly CBBC now (age 7) but occasionally that's a bit old seeming and if Hey Duggee is on then it's back to CBeebies.

Stuff like Go Jetters she also still prefers to some CBBC stuff but is a big fan of Horrible Histories.

I think the exit/entry level comment was spot on. X

DD said she would feel embarrassed if we sent her photo into CBeebies for the back to school thing. Made me realise she's more CBBC age all of a sudden.

Mine prefers Tiny Pop at the minute and Spirit Riding Free to anything else
I miss cbeebies

I've been looking at the post-breakfast options. Just wish there was something other than The Next Step as the DCs really like PhD Odd Squad but they will hate that and we don't need to leave that early!

CarrieFour · 01/09/2020 20:50

@drspouse

Could you put something on iPlayer instead?

We are back to school tomorrow and I'm now going to check what's on the 20 minutes before we need to leave the house.

We had a good system of hair done during Hey Duggee and teeth cleaned, toilet and shoes on once Peter Rabbit is finished.

Now we have a new school start time and probably a new TV schedule so who knows what we'll be brushing hair and watching tomorrow!!

It helps my two if we stick to the schedule as otherwise they complain "just one more" or "I want a different episode" when we are trying to get bags etc ready.
DD is going in much earlier than DS which doesn't help!

DominaShantotto · 02/09/2020 16:42

About the point the eldest was 7 she started to get more interested in certain shows - things like Junior Bake Off mainly... now it's pretty much all CBBC with occasional outbreaks of Duggee (for the adults).

Operation Ouch was really the gateway one for us - took ages for the kids to get into Horrible Histories - as opposed to DH.

HelloMist · 04/09/2020 15:01

My 5 year old has been watching CBBC for nearly a year. Only certain programmes though and she still likes some on Cbeebies. Gateway ones for us were Operation Ouch, Horrible Histories and Pets Factor and these are still favourites. I don't mind watching them with her, well until I've seen an episode more than twice. Hmm The adverts on the cartoon channels make me wish she didn't know how to channel hop yet!

minipie · 04/09/2020 15:05

DC1 is 7 and has only recently swapped to more CBBC
However she has very little interest in non cartoon TV - except Horrible Histories which she loves.

DC2 is 5 and still definitely on Cbeebies although does like Dangermouse. Watches more Netflix though
