Anyone watching? I've not seen it before.
The owen family are mum dad and 9 kids.
What an idealic life those children have.
From the age of 4 learning how to help a sheep give birth, collecting eggs, feeding the animals, and all that lovely land to run around in.
I would of loved that as a child. And mum doesn't look like shes had 9 kids!

I am watching it and enjoying it.

It's how I grew up and it's exactly how we are bringing my children up.

The show shows all the good stuff and does touch on the hardships but it doesn't show just how relentless, dirty, hard work it is at times and what it's actually like to be so tied to where you work and live that you feel guilty for even taking a few hours away, let alone a weeks holiday.

You see the family in cold hard driving wind and snow and it makes good telly, but it doesn't get across how sometimes it's like that day after day after day and how soul destroying that can be, and just how short spring and summer are when you work outside.

Absolutely loving the constant curlew soundtrack though.

I enjoy this show too.

It does look hard work but I am very sure we don't see the half of it.

Those children are having a fabulous childhood.

@Herdwick I've no doubt atall that its extremely hard work and I cant imagine how relentless is must be in the bad weather. I mean when I have to walk the dog in the rain😄
I think the children come across really well, all supporting each other and what an amazing part of the world to grow up.
I wonder how many of them will follow in their parents footsteps?

I haven't watched but seen it discussed as now one of the most widely watched programmes.

I suspect that sometime in the future the children will sue the parents for child cruelty, deprevation of normal social contact and media exploitation!

Loved watching the little ones - when there were lambing! Also the squeals of delight over the easter eggs!!

Eh?

Perhaps you should watch it before making odd statements like that.

They go to school and one of them is at University, they aren't deprived of social contact. If you watched (I also follow on Instagram) you would see they are having a wonderful life.

I haven't seen the new series yet, but I watched the previous one and thought the kids were delightful: supportive of each other, kind, practical, knew how to work, could entertain themselves, very socially comfortable.

It's a tough life in a lot of ways, but clearly has some great upsides.

Yep. Loved watching Clemmie deliver her first lamb yesterday. Totally in awe of Amanda if I'm honest. Lovely family.

ChessieFL · 26/08/2020 17:27

I love this programme and think they come across as a lovely family. I find their way of life fascinating - completely different to mine!

ScarlettDarling · 26/08/2020 17:30

The children are absolutely delightful. It warms my heart to see the way little Sidney dotes on Reuben. They seem like a lovely, lovely family...almost made me wish to live on a farm until my daughter reminded me I hate the outdoors and being cold and mud and animal smells😂

I think the farm has enabled reubin to find his talents, which he might've struggled with if he lived in a 'normal' home. I think he is a great example of how kids that dont find school easy have their hidden strengths, but sadly most dont have the environment to find them.
