Did anyone watch this? I really felt for Natalie. She is a very determined, brave and strong woman. I did feel conflicted when I asked myself how I’d feel if my DC was in her class though. Her pupils didn’t have a problem with her swearing but as a parent I’m not sure I’d feel comfortable knowing my child was listening to extremely strong profanities every day. The school seemed to support her in theory but not so much in reality and I wonder if pressure from parents might have led to her leaving. What a debilitating and difficult condition to have to live with. I hope her new school works out for her.

I did watched and also admire her strength and determination. Schools spend a fair bit of time on inclusion policies and also on teaching kids with disabilities. Where are these children supposed to be employed as adults? It seems for the school in question it's "not in my backyard". I was pretty appalled at the students on the training course, they looked embarrassed and uncomfortable yet there they were learning, supposedly, to teach kids with disabilities. Despite all the policies and training there didn't seem to be much of it in practice supporting an adult with a disability.

I agree the people on the uni course looked totally unable and unwilling to accept her or even to be vaguely friendly toward her. It was clear she felt overwhelmed and was unable to even take a seat and the fact that the tv crew had to step in to help her was a damming indictment of the tutor and the others on the course. As you say, they of all people should be wanting to extend the hand of friendship and support to someone with a disability.

Yes, really poor practice on the part of the facilitators of her college course. It wasn't the first week she'd been there. They must have been aware of her requirements. It's not a major adjustment to go and stick a 'Seat reserved for Nicola' postit up 10 mins before the class arrives. Really lax and pretty shocking.

Difficult one. The second time she was joining part way through the session when they were already listening to the lecturer.

I don’t think she helped herself with a film crew in tow everywhere. It must have been stressful. Although she did seem very comfortable being interviewed one on one.

I felt very uncomfortable for her at the uni. Although m sure it wasn't done on purpose but both times she got there late. I think most would be looking at them hoping for them to settle down and get on with it.

Must be awful for her though. I
hope she's happy in her new job.
