This documentary about Jonny Kennedy had a profound effect on me when it first aired.

If you haven’t seen it, I can recommend it. It can be a hard watch in places but it is inspiring.

Every time I hear ‘don’t stop me now’ he comes to mind.

I hope he has a new shell now.

Me too! Every time I hear this song I think of him and hope he's happy.

Just watching a bit now. So painful watching, just looking at his body it looks so incredibly painful

You just can’t imagine.

The quiet dignity of it all just blows me away. Jonny. His mam. His brother. His gentle carer. I know you just have to keep on with the things life gives you but I haven’t managed to go through life with grace like that.

I cried again. And laughed. And I have to keep reminding myself that I have no right to moan. I don’t. I probably will carry on moaning. But I’ve no right to.

Jonny man - you were a legend. And you and your family won’t be forgotten by me and my family.

May your new shell not be ‘dodgy’ and may those who loved you know peace. Flowers

Ditto with the song and his Heinz 57 casket.

Very sad story

I’ve never forgotten it. He died suddenly on a train didn’t he? I remember his carer gently checking on him and realising, but not saying anything. Really powerful TV.

KenzoBaby · 23/05/2020 19:40

Yes, one of the most moving things I've ever seen. And I watch a LOT of TV! I saw it when I was just a teenager, still living at home and I've never forgotten it.

DebRA is such a great charity as well. They now have Simon Weston (who got burned in the Falklands War) as their Patron. I follow them on Facebook and give a monthly direct debit so Jonny's work is living on, years after his death.

It's funny how this touched so many people, I watched it when it first aired and it's stayed with me - and I too, have watched a LOT of TV.

Me too. Saw it when it was first on and always remembered it. It is a profoundly affecting programme.

Bloody love your name. Grin Sadly I was blessed with extraordinarily walloping droopers. Sad

Back to topic.

I’ve never forgotten Jonny or this programme. I do the little arm dance that Beanie did to ‘don’t stop me too‘. It just feels the right thing to do.

What a legacy he left. To inspire, move and affect people throughout their life with just a one hour snapshot of your life (and sadly death) just enforces what a truly special person he was.

Legend.
