Does anyone watch The Trip to Greece (and Italy/Spain etc)

I really enjoy these programmes and have loved this latest series. Could listen to them talking shite and doing impressions all day. Plus the wonderful scenery and food is fab.

But I do wonder why they have to include the fictional stuff about their “private lives.” Eg Steve’s dad dying this series. What is the point of all that? Made me feel a bit uncomfortable. Anyone else?

We love all the series, watching one a day of the new Greece one to make it last. I think its a bit strange about the fictional bits but I’m used to it now.

I know what you mean Dame, I’ve got used to it too I suppose. But it did strike me as a bit odd this time. It doesn’t really add anything to the format imho.

I haven't got to the bit you’re talking about yet, I thought it was odd when Rob had a little flirty fling with the deck hand lady in Trip To Italy, I mean, is he Rob Brydon or a fictional character. It is a bit weird!

Yes, that bit too. What was the point of that?Confused

I like that part of it all, (Though Rob Brydon trying to cop off with people is annoying) just adds a slight unsettling weirdness to things...I just love this show all round really Grin 10 years since the first, Lake District one!

I only liked the first one, when I had only the vaguest idea who RB and SC were, as am not well up on comedy -- the second one felt weird and stagey, and I've not bothered keeping up since.

I think the fictionalised versions of themselves date from when the same director directed them in A Cock and Bull Story, don't they? They decided to play up whatever worked best comedically.

Is it really 10 years since the first one? Shock

I'm the same as Sprigware, I only really liked the first, which was hilarious and novel, watched a couple of the 2nd just for the scenery and won't bother with any of the 3rd series.

If they were just being "themselves", it wouldn't be nearly as sharp though, would it? It's a show about middle age and disappointment and that weird (and quite nasty) sense of competition you get between some friends. It's very believable but I don't think anyone would want to stand up and say "This is who I am!" but by playing extreme versions of themselves (or versions of someone), they can be horrible, annoying, needy etc.
