On BBC she does. ITV seems to be using selective views.

I think looking at her Mum and sister, it's a combination of good genes, good discipline and knowing she's going to be splashed across every paper in the land whenever she's in public to focus the mind even more. Sure she has all manner of very focused personal exercise and nutrition gurus too.

I'm lardy, but she looks fabulous to me and just looks very slim, not 'skinny' at all. Smile goes all the way to the eyes too and seems on good terms with William from what you can tell from selected photos.

Sure she's fine.

She is very thin. Past a certain age, this shows on the face. Doesn't necessarily mean she is unhealthy.

She obviously enjoys being slim though, because she wears very, very fitted clothes, which I don't think are at all flattering. She'd look much better with more fluid styles.

And yes, looks like well done botox and hair extensions.

I don’t think she does hair extensions anymore, it looks more like a hair piece to me. It’s less damaging and can just be worn for a couple hours for events.

She has slim genes, also she has a very active life and three young children to run around after. And yes, I know she has help but she is a very involved parent.

As long as she's healthy, what does it matter?

This thing about 'well she has millions of help and nannies so she's hardly running round after her kids' etc annoys me.

She has three children who it certainly appears that she adores. If if I was really rich I wouldn't automatically want to outsource my children's care to anyone - fair enough the washing and cleaning and sticking the bloody fishfingers in the oven, but actually caring for my children? Playing with them? No. I'm sure she is running round after her kids a lot. She is from a very close knit family and I'd be really surprised if she's a hands off parent.

There is no doubt she exercises and eats well, but so do a lot of people. Even those with children who don't have nannies etc. Just because she's slim doesn't mean she's outsourcing her children so she can go to the gym.

I can’t imagine her life being that active. Not when you compare most mothers lives. The functions she goes to don’t demand that much effort, all the hard work is done for her. Maybe two hours out of her day, maybe once a week? No housework or running round after kids, no traipsing round supermarkets with toddlers in tow after a days work. No cooking and cleaning the house....😲 I suppose if she goes to the gym and works out every day she could be called “active”, but not much else.

They own vast tracts of land. I’m pretty sure they spend as much time as possible out and about in it.

As for ‘too thin’. Meh. Her family can care about that, I’m not sure what business it is of anyone else’s.
Slightest hint of a muffin top and there’d be a thread about that on here too.

I saw her in person once, and I was actually quite taken aback by how thin she looked - much thinner in person than in photos even, which I wasn't expecting.
I'm not saying there's anything wrong with her slimness, or being slim in general, some people are just naturally inclined to be slim.

She is thin, and that is deliberate, she strives to look like that and has good self-discipline and does. It doesn't look natural, all the people I know who are naturally thin tend to have naturally thin bony faces.

That said, someone said if she was too thin it would show in her face- she's had fillers about a year and a half ago so it won't show there, she does look tired and a bit older than her age, but she has a lot of work done to keep her face plump and her body thin as that's the look she's going for.

It isn't natural at all and the fact it catches the eye and looks odd tells us that, because although we may have lost sight of what 'normal' is weight-wise, we are fed a constant diet of thin media celebs and if you start to look thin in comparison to them, you are probably too thin- see Angelina Jolie.

Diana interestingly enough didn't look that thin (bony gaunt thin) even though she had an eating disorder. Who knows whether Kate does or whether she just is very oriented around being thin, exercising a lot and is prepared not to eat puddings to do it- both are possible.

that's not being really "active" though is it Grin
If you could get slim and toned from doing the housework, that would be known by now.
Having the freedom to exercise as much as you enjoy, that is being genuinely active.

I can't comment if it's natural, but isn't it ironic that some of the richest people in the world (celebs etc) choose to be hungry as someone who has no money Shock

Report
BlackCatSleeping · 12/02/2020 15:07

I wouldn't say it was natural. She obviously watches what she eats and works out. Whether she does so excessively or not, I have no idea. You can be overweight and have an ED, you can be underweight and not.

I said that in response to someone who said she was slim through being active, mainly through having three kids. That’s true for all of us who don’t have servants, cooks and nannies. Grin But tbh that’s how I always stayed slim. No gyms, just running round after kids and always being active, even with a healthy appetite.

I think there is a discussion to be had around the pressure KM has to be so thin. Why do so many celebs have to be so small not just slim. Like I said I used to model & remember loads of girls who were naturally slim but the pressure to be tiny resulted in drugs or cotton wool etc.

Kate is slimmer than I personally would like to be; I favour a more muscular, athletic look for myself.

It’s none of my business though, I hope she is happy and healthy.

Report

This was the point I was making earlier about 'thin shaming' not really being comparable to fat shaming.

Being thin is seen as aspirational and the 'ideal'. If it wasn't then celebrities wouldn't all, for the most part, be thin. You do get the odd bigger person on tv and in magazines but that's generally a tokenistic thing. There must be immense pressure on people in the public eye like Kate to be slim. That, coupled with her genetics and sportiness means that she is on the slimmer end of slim, but personally I think she looks great and not unhealthy.

Yes she is thin but look how strong and muscly her legs are. You can’t get that without exercising and you can’t exercise and build muscle if you don’t eat.

Active housework, gardening etc does burn a lot of calories, Dr Michael Mosley did a comparison on one of his TV programs, the people taking part burnt more calories than people who were doing dedicated exercise, it’s not to be sniffed at.

I'm overweight, but I have little doubt that if I could afford a chef, a private gym and swimming pool and whatever other services that would help me control my food intake and burn off more calories, I could be slim again! Unless that's wishful thinking. Grin

If William were having affairs, it would be so cruel, knowing full well how his mum got destroyed .. Not nice this family!

Maybe he decided to marry someone who would look the other way, unlike Diana. The pattern was likely set during their early years tbh

She looks really healthy to me. We are conditioned to think that overweight is normal these days. My mum and her friends are all and have always been very slim. They eat extremely healthily but my mum is always being asked if she eats properly by well meaning people.

Prince Philip's mother was sectioned and his father continued shagging around. It didnt stop him. It didn't stop Charles either even though his own father shagged around while living the life of reily on the back of his wife's position.

I'm not saying this is the case with Kate, but I worked with someone with bulimia and quite a severe exercise addiction. So it is possible. Can't remember if she was muscly but b she was very slim.

You'd have to be blind not to agree that she is very thin

She's probably the same shape as me and I'm slap bang in the middle of ideal BMI.

I don't have the same glowing skin and smooth shiny hair. She looks fabulous.
