On BBC she does. ITV seems to be using selective views.

So long as she is healthy and happy, that is what matters.

Ps and looking back at old pics I would argue that I still looked amazing even then: glowing skin, toned body, shiny hair. I still had periods and managed to conceive.

However I was only eating about 800 calories a day and working out at for at least an hour of high impact gym work. This went on, on and off for about twenty years (I was 7st8 at my lowest).

I was young so I looked great - but my mental health was shot to pieces and I was completely controlled by my weight. If I’d carried on like that into my forties I think I’d be looking at an old age of osteoporosis. I really hope I haven’t done too much damage as it is!

Agree @mistermagpie. When I looked like she did in the bikini pic I was about 8 stone, and I’m 5’9. That’s a bmi of 16.5 and WAY into the underweight zone.

I still think she looks fab by the way, I just think you're deluded if you think she has a bmi slap bang in the middle of the healthy range.

Olly - I'm sorry, she may well be the same shape as you but there is no way she is the same size if you have a bmi of 22 ish. Look at that bikini photo.

I am the same height as her and a similar build. I've just checked and my bmi is 22.1. Objectively I'd say she's two stone lighter than me. I looked closer to her when my bmi was 19.

Honestly I saw her last week as she came to visit our area. She is very healthy and vibrant looking. She looks the opposite of ill. She has very good chefs who probably cook lean food and high quality stuff and the best personal trainers in the world. I honestly wouldn't worry. She has the life of Riley!

I know it's her not her job, what I meant was she is scrutinised and photographed all the time. That would affect anyone's confidence and leave them open to eating disorders and mental health issues.
The less senior royals like the York's aren't in the spotlight as much.

It would be hard not to develop some form of ED when you're photographed every time you step out, your clothes analysed, hair and make up scrutinised

It’s not actually her job to look good in designer clothing. Sophie, Princess Anne and the York girls are normal looking and their figures do not get scrutinised in the press. Princess Anne just wears whatever and gets on with the job.

Fergie was a bit different but perhaps the press was more cruel then.

She's beautiful but yes does look too thin at times and it shows in her face. She looked lovely when carrying Louis and looked slighter fuller and glowing.
If she's genuinely well and happy then it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. If she's unwell then that's another matter.

want that not what that. It also doesn't mean that I'm a size 20

Report

I didn't comment on her shape until other posters said those who think she is too thin are x,y,z.

If I say Tom Hardy is good looking or Kate Moss has great style or Angelina Jolie is stunning people will disagree. If people say she has a perfect figure I can disagree.

I do think it's depressing that still in 2020 for some many women in the public eye their slimness is lauded above every other achievement. You can't deny that some of the media presents KM as someone we should aspire to look & dress like. It's ok for me to not what that.

When I had an eating disorder I looked amazing and received lots of positive attention, which just encourages you to continue. I was 5'7" and if the scales tipped 7 stone I would panic and starve myself. It is possible to look fit and healthy and be in the grip of an ED, so I wouldn't count it out with Kate.

But why do people actually need to comment on the shape of her body? It just continues the cycle of teaching our children that you need to be a certain shape for people to approve of you. You're judged if you're fat, judged if you're thin. Can't bloody win.

If people are genuinely concerned about her mental health do they really think a thread about how thin and tired she looks will help in any shape or form.

That bikini photo upthread looks photoshopped to me! It’s also supposedly from 2011. She does seem very thin to me now.

No, where did I say she should change? I'm rejecting the notion that she's "perfect" & I should want to look the same otherwise I'm jealous/fat or thin shaming.

Report
NerrSnerr · 13/02/2020 09:40

I think she's far too straight which I personally don't find appealing.

So she should change her body shape to one that you personally find appealing? Why the fuck should women change the way they look to please others?

slipperywhensparticus · 13/02/2020 09:38

I think they are deliberately picking g photos where she looks slim and tired

Report
rockingrobin1 · 13/02/2020 09:38

In the same vein I understand she has to dress in a certain manner to "represent" but I can reject the notion she is a style icon. to the under 40s

I think what I question is if I don't agree that she has a perfect figure or isn't too thin why does that equal I'm thin shaming or have lost sight of what's normal? I like being slim & think slim figures look attractive but shape is also really important. I think she's far too straight which I personally don't find appealing. She has a very long torso & shorter limbs whereas I love Gisele style legs.

I think she has a perfect figure. Really toned and healthy looking.

We have a skewed view if she is ‘too thin’ - she’s ideal imo. Her sister has a fantastic figure too.

She is primarily a clothes horse. I’m sure she works very hard to stay in excellent shape.

She always looks lovely and I fee sorry for her because I don’t think she can win with this sort of thing
Her weight and every aspect of her appearance is brutally scrutinised along with her being or not being pregnant, etc

I did look at a couple of photos of her this week and saw her in a news report. I did actually think she looks - I’m not sure if this so the right word - a bit more “fragile”. She is incredibly slender and any more weight loss I think would he be worrying. I hope she isn’t unwell or depressed. But being in the Royal Family would finish me off .......

She looks genuinely happy though and is doing a great job for the Royal Family right now I think.

Being slim doesn't mean starving yourself. Too many people think they're hungry when the word they're looking for is greedy

I can’t believe people are in denial when there are old photos of her at a normal weight. Her head now appears much too big for her body, so it almost goes into uncanny valley territory. That’s just the photos so can’t imagine irl.

Saying we’re just a pack of fat jealous bitches for calling it as we see it ...

There are celebs who are truthful about this—I remember Lady Gaga getting dragged for tweeting ‘pop stars don’t eat’ but she wasn’t wrong!

And Sophie, fwiw is at a normal weight and I don’t believe she’s ever been made fun of in the press. The York girls neither (their dress sense however ...).

It’s a conscious choice that Kate has made. Her position doesn’t actually require looking good in designer clothing unlike a celeb.

Her weight is her business. If she is unwell it's unlikely that people harping on about how skinny she in on the Internet is going to help her recovering in anyway.

She can't win. She looks slim in photos she obviously has an ED, she looks slightly less slim everyone speculated on whether she's pregnant. Must be exhausting to have your physical appearance judged every single day.

plenty of gymnasts & the like are muscular & athletic but have ED.

I'm not saying this is the case with Kate, but I worked with someone with bulimia and quite a severe exercise addiction. So it is possible. Can't remember if she was muscly but b she was very slim

Someone I know is very obviously in the throes of a very serious ED but has very muscular legs.
