I love a good "police procedural"

Always struggling to find a new series to binge.

I've just finished Bosch which I found hard to get into at first but I once I had watched the lot in a few days!

Not necessarily wanting something so dark and "film noir" as that again but something involving and interesting please.

I quite like light - I love white collar, lie to me, ncis, csi

But not too light - psych irritated me by being too light almost sitcom

Prefer American to British, the occasional Australian or Canadian series

I have amazon prime, Netflix and the terrestrial catch up options

So hit me with your suggestions please!

We seem to have similar tastes I'm currently watching prime suspect from the beginning. I'm following along with hopes of some inspiration also 😘

Graphista · 26/01/2020 20:50

I loved prime suspect too but I'm sort of acclimatised to American tastes now

Without a Trace?

Graphista · 26/01/2020 21:07

Where on the options I gave can I watch without a trace? Thought it was a sky/virgin show now?

Criminal Minds?

I used to watch lots of Scandi noir thrillers but got fed up of the brutalised women. If you are OK with subtitles, I watched a very good Korean crime thriller on Netflix recently called The Lies Within. It’s finished airing now, so the whole season is available. It’s brooding, twisty and unflinchingly gory in a few places but really interesting - a mix of crime and politics. It was a really quality production and the two leads were excellent, as were the supporting cast.

Spiral if you don’t mind subtitles

The Fall

MagentaRocks · 27/01/2020 00:35

City homicide on prime.
NCIS is on prime too.

MagentaRocks · 27/01/2020 00:36

Sorry missed you like ncis.

City homicide is australian

Synecdoche · 27/01/2020 00:44

Unbelievable on Netflix is great.
As is How to Get Away with Murder.
Have you tried Line of Duty or Dublin Murder Squad? Also heartily second The Fall - all British though.

PlatinumBrunette · 27/01/2020 00:46

Law and Order, particularly Special Victims Unit.

Graphista · 27/01/2020 10:38

Yes law and order a favourite too

Subtitles not an option as eyesight poor. Need new glasses really but currently housebound so no idea how to sort that.

Really not a fan of most current British fare most times I try its poorly written and there just aren't enough episodes made for me to get my teeth into! 6 episodes per series is just meh!

Lots of independent opticians can arrange a home visit. Find out which one does your local nursing homes - they have the travelling equipment.

Back to the thread - on Netflix
The Indian Detective
Republic of Doyle
Jack Taylor
The Alienist
The Good Cop

On Amazon
Water Rats
City Homicide
Blue Heelers - the Bill in a small Aussie town
Mr. Mercedes
Jack Ryan

To merge two issues, Glasses Direct sponsor NCIS, or at least the series I am watching at moment (series 9?)

boatyardblues · 01/02/2020 23:51

Our local Specsavers branch does home visits. I was reading a leaflet in there yo kill time recently. You had to be in receipt of certain benefits or meet other criteria. There is information on their website: www.specsavers.co.uk/home-eye-tests?gclsrc=aw.ds&
