Anyone watched it tonight? That mother of six was incredible - so lovely and calm and strong. Would love her for a friend!

I'm addicted to this programme. Some of them have so much strength. I'm watching all the back episodes.

Ridingthegravytrain · 22/01/2020 14:31

I think it’s becoming too much about the back story. Do they scour the hospitals and only show them if they have some upsetting past? That stuff about the fathers upbringing was totally unnecessary.

I may have been ranting to my husband last night Grin

blametheparents · 22/01/2020 15:42

@Ridingthegravytrain - Completely agree with you and was saying this to DH last night.
Way too much back story.

LittleSweet · 22/01/2020 15:57

I agree, too much back story and not enough different people being made better. The same has happened with Say Yes to the Dress. I like looking at wedding dresses.

Insofaras · 22/01/2020 16:05

I’m going to stop watching this now, it has really changed from the programme I used to enjoy. The excessive focus on the father yesterday was the final straw.

DishRanAwayWithTheSpoon · 22/01/2020 16:11

It's way too much back story. I don't want to watch an hour of people's back story's. It's like 24hrs of counselling.

The majority of episodes seem to be people with back story's but no real reason to be in A&E, sometimes the back story is very minimal but built up as if there's going to be a massive reveal. Then one person with major trauma and focus again on their back story.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 22/01/2020 16:17

It's getting almost as bad as TV talent shows, you're not worthy of attention if you don't have a 'tragic past'. Agree that the mum of six seemed fab though!!

PineappleDanish · 22/01/2020 16:23

Totally agree. The fact that the wee lad who had fallen off a wall had a brother who had been stabbed was totally irrelevant but we got 80% of that and only 20% about the child. Same as the lad who had come off the bike - not interested that his Dad was an evangelical Christian.

Don't mind hearing a bit from the medics though, the wee junior doc talking about checking in with his consultant and learning on the job was very interesting.

PickAChew · 22/01/2020 16:44

I like it for the back stories, tbh. I was a bit Hmm about the woman who took her daughter into A&E because she'd had a tummy ache and been sick in the night, though seemed perfectly fine, now, in last week's episode, though. Hopefully, the sickness wasn't due to a tummy bug that she'd subsequently passed on by being out and about.

SavageBeauty73 · 22/01/2020 17:59

@PickAChew I was so shocked about the little girl bring in A&E with a tummy ache. She didn't even seem poorly. I also spent the whole time thinking the mum looked familiar 🤷‍♀️

BentNeckLady · 22/01/2020 18:02

I turned it off when they started going on about that lads traumatic birth. He was in a motorbike accident, he’s too old for his parents to be sharing gruesome birth stories.

If they’re going to do back story it at least needs to be recent and relevant.

It’s a new narrator too I think?

PickAChew · 22/01/2020 18:22

Same here. Kept thinking I was sure I recognise her from somewhere.

eminencegrise · 22/01/2020 18:27

I found the mother irritating. There's all this 'tragedy' but then it's like, you know at the end they'll all be back in their always lovely homes with gardens and nice kitchens. It's like the X-Factor for hospitals.

Toddlerteaplease · 23/01/2020 11:18

I wondered about why they featured the Rotherham who'd been stabbed. It wasn't at all relevant to the actual patient.

Toddlerteaplease · 23/01/2020 11:26

Not sure how 'brother my turned into Rotherham!

Toddlerteaplease · 28/01/2020 21:43

Why on earth has the bloke with the
Minor cut to his arm gone to A&E? A walk in centre could have sorted it.

Soontobe60 · 28/01/2020 21:49

I feel for the woman with autism whose hurt her finger. Her back story is very sad, and her sister is very caring.

FixTheBone · 28/01/2020 21:51

I love all the back story, I'm a. NHS trauma surgeon and in the normal working day I get to spend 12 minutes with each patient in clinic and sometimes less on a ward round.

It reminds me of all the real things about people that I don't get time to concentrate on in a typical working day.

Clawdy · 28/01/2020 22:10

We were a bit surprised by the cut on arm guy too! Perhaps his story was to contrast with the serious and sad other two cases. Not sure we needed to hear quite so much about his back story though!

OP posts:
Crockof · 28/01/2020 22:16

The cut on his arm guys girlfriend was hilarious I'm certain she's gonna dump him coz he was such a wimp. I honestly cam not believe he went to A&E with a scratch what a waste of resources

Peaseblossom22 · 28/01/2020 22:19

@Toddlerteaplease to be fair apparently the unit they film in is a drop in and minor injuries unit as well , so often they are not in A&E . I suppose it makes a more catchy title than ‘24 hours in A&E and a drop in unit ‘!

Toddlerteaplease · 28/01/2020 22:28

Yes I only realised when they walked through the door at the end, that they'd been in the urgent care centre. The sister of the girl with autism is amazing. I hope they get something sorted out for her.

Toddlerteaplease · 04/02/2020 21:22

Another well vomiting child in A&E who doesn't need to be there!

Clawdy · 04/02/2020 22:09

He did look rather more poorly than the last child though!

OP posts:
LittleSweet · 05/02/2020 13:14

I had to stop watching. I want to see the doctors and nurses working to fix someone, not hear about how someone is a great mum or how much they like being a dad.
