I've just watched this on Netflix. Never seen it before. It had me crying big proper tears. Might be something to do with the fact that it's very close to the second anniversary of my mums death.

It was a beautiful episode, really showed the nuances of family love, made me cry too

LemonadePockets · 12/01/2020 00:12

I love it, cry every single time.

Breaks my heart, I've only watched it twice. Reminds me so much my gran.

My mum died a year ago. Can’t think of watching this again for some time. Remember it as being wonderful and very moving.

The part where Barbara is putting Nana's hair in rollers ... and Jim messing around in the house with Nana.

Doesn't matter how many times I've watched it I still bawl. Before my own Mum passed, since, the same it's absolutely beautiful.

'Thank you Barbara'
Sad

I watch this all the time. Makes me cry every time. And then again in Joe's Crackers with the Nana bauble. Blush

Scarlet ribbons. Sad

A quite simply beautiful episode written and acted superbly.

Sultanaofping · 12/01/2020 01:11

I can't even think about it without welling up, I really love it but it's very close to the bone for me.

Heartofglass12345 · 12/01/2020 01:13

It always gets me 😢 and when she dies in the vicar of dibley too

SeamstressfromTreacleMineRoad · 12/01/2020 19:32

I absolutely love this - even though it reduces me to sobs every time... Beautifully written, beautifully acted - and a perfect illustration of the love and heartbreak of family life. Exquisite.

yorkshireteaspoonie · 12/01/2020 19:55

Total sobfest 😢 adore the royale family but this episode really strikes a chord

NumbersStation · 12/01/2020 19:57

It is a quiet love. An every day love. An ordinary love. A love you can find in every street.

The most special love is the one that doesn’t scream it’s presence but the one that is always just there

And it was portrayed so beautifully here.

Elderflower14 · 12/01/2020 20:36

I always remember I was staying in a Premier Inn the night this first aired. I lay in bed sobbing noisily... I often wonder what the people in adjacent rooms must have been thinking...
