It's even better than the first series! Love the soundtrack 🙂

I watched the whole season in one go. Blush

I really enjoyed it too and it has Father Dougal in it.

Bluewavescrashing · 05/01/2020 14:03

Ooh yay!

I'm in episode 3.

Did you see the Bake Off with the cast in it?

Ann from Motherland is in it too!

It was only this season I Googled Granda Joe and realised he was the same actor that played Barristan Selmy in Game of Thrones. It was really bothering me where I'd seen him before.

I haven't seen the Bake Off special. I'll have a look. My favorite characters are still Sister Michael and Boring Uncle Colm though. They are a little bit nicer to James this season.

BlackCatSleeping · 05/01/2020 14:34

Also, I agree I loved the soundtrack, but the Cranberries make me sad because of what happened to Dolores. She was so damn talented and such an important voice at that time.

Bluewavescrashing · 05/01/2020 14:39

The actress who played Sister Michael was very funny on the Bake Off 🎂😁

Without doubt one of the funniest TV programmes I’ve ever watched. The writing and casting is superb. The second episode of S2 with the statue is fabulous as is the Take That concert.

TSSDNCOP · 05/01/2020 14:49

I hope that, as with all the best comedy, the writers and commissioning channels know when to stop. Leave us wanting more, but not getting it is the best way to end.

longtompot · 05/01/2020 14:56

I loved both series, and the bake off was brilliant! Even my dh enjoyed it.

diddl · 05/01/2020 17:46

"Rock the Boat".

Hilarious!

S3 this year?

TSSDNCOP · 05/01/2020 18:38

Just watched the BO. Fantastic!

Aardvarkitsabloodyaardvark · 05/01/2020 19:38

I've rewatched both series this weekend.
So emotional.
Yes I hear series 3 is out this year.

BabloHoney · 05/01/2020 19:42

It’s brilliant. The last episode of s2 was very moving!

ginrummy1 · 05/01/2020 19:46

The prom episode had me in tears when James came back from his creep convention.
I'm a decade older than they are but the soundtrack takes me back

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 06/01/2020 00:03

It's such an amazing show - love it so much!

Deathraystare · 08/01/2020 07:56

Did you see the Bake Off with the cast in it?

Yes! Missed it first time round but it was repeated on the weekend. I was howling! "The Irish love slime" "Don't diss my culture!".

TheTruthAboutLove · 08/01/2020 13:18

Season 2 was brilliant, I'm excited for Season 3 now!

My favourite episode has to be the one with Rock The Boat and any time Uncle Colm comes on screen. Can't beat the scene walking into the cinema where Gerry is expecting it to be him and Mary and the entire family are there!

Soundtrack is great too, I downloaded Independent Love Song (from the Prom scene when Erin answers the door to James) and it makes me smile every time I listen.

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 08/01/2020 17:39

I love this show. Definitely watch on All4 if you can, not Netflix, as they've changed some of the songs on the soundtrack - I suppose because of licensing issues, but it does make a difference. Granda Joe is great but Sister Michael is my favourite.

The Bake Off is definitely worth watching, they all seem to get on brilliantly together and they're naturally funny as well. Shut up and eat your slime!

DarkDarkNight · 08/01/2020 20:39

I love this show. It’s hilarious but naive and sweet as well. Both season finales have had me in tears.

The fashion is so nostalgic - the slip dresses with knee socks and Michelle’s platform trainers have me cringing, and I can remember the long shirt short waistcoat combo well.

I keep trying to convert people so I have someone to discuss it with. Iv3 watched it all through twice and need to see it again soon.

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 08/01/2020 21:21

It has nostalgia value for me too because I was 14 in 1993, so the music and fashions make me smile fondly. Admittedly the political background of my teenage years was very different, because I grew up in rural Yorkshire, but at the same time there is so much common ground there too - all the every day preoccupations of teen girls, and the feeling of being constantly mortified by your embarrassing relatives.
