Right Dr Who geeks, can you answer my Dr Who mad ds's question?

He asked me today, how, in one of the last episodes of the most recent series, Captain Jack travelled with the TARDIS clinging on to the outside. I said, 'Well, he can't be killed because of the Rose looking into the time vortex...blardy blardy blah'. He rolled his eyes at me and said 'I know all that I mean how come the TARDIS didn't just disappear around him like it does to other people?' I was stumped. Can anyone enlighten us?

Well, he's immortal and found in Torchwood that nothing will kill him so I'd say that's the answer.

I thought it was because he had Dr Who's hand??

Maybe because he has that link with the vortex?

Geeky answer- The TARDIS is a ship that contains an entirely different dimension - hence the bigger-on-the-inside stuff. It is entirely possible that if someone or something is touching it, it will travel with it - hence the arrow that is shot at the TARDIS in 'The Shakespeare Code' is still present at the beginning of the next episode 'Gridlock'.

More straightfoward answer - Russell T Davies wanted to do something all flash and exciting for the return of Captain Jack.

Just asked DH and he reckons it's because of a number of factors. He travelled in the TARDIS before so there fore it recognised him. He grabbed onto it at exactly the right time. He is saturated with time particles. He had the hand. He had a time vortex manipulator. He can't be killed.

Does that just confuse matters?

'Cos he's Captain Jack, brilliant, and can do anything?
