Creating this thread for those of us watching built via BBC Scotland which started on 24th October a week ahead of BBC 1 so we can discuss it without worrying about being a "spoiler".

There is a thread for Guilt on BBC1, which started on Wednesday 30th October at www.mumsnet.com/Talk/telly_addicts/3730739-Guilt-SPOILERS-TITLE-EDITED-BY-MNHQ

I found this by accident on BBC Scotland (where I dont live!) and tut tutted for the first half hour, but then became hooked.

So it is now my "guilty" pleasure as it is a bit wicked but very funny.

Haven't seen tonight's episode (7 Nov) as recording it so will start in a few minutes.

Hope this thread is helpful for those wanting to discuss it without spoiling it for others.

Well not so funny now.

So many layers.

I think the actor playing the private eye is very good. Or rather I have only ever seen him play romantic lead type characters so interesting to see him in a down trodeen role.

And with all the new characters last night it seems every well know Scottish actor will get a part (thought not that many actresses)!

Does anyone know what other parts the actress playing the neighbour has been in? She looks so familiar. For some reason even though she is central to the plot the BBC has decided she isn't important enough to be listed on the web site for the series.

Do you mean Ellie Haddington? She’s been in loads of stuff but I’ve seen her most recently in Motherland as Julia’s mum. I’m quite enjoying it being set in Edinburgh. Most of the Scottish offerings seem to be west coast (which is my side of the country!) but it means I’m not picking holes in the geography of characters going down one street and turning into a scheme six miles away!

stumbledin · 08/11/2019 15:05

Thanks! Yes, have now googled Ellie Haddington and see that I must have seen her in any number of things, thought strangely as it is some time ago, as spy? agent? in foyles war.

And yes the filming in Edinburgh certainly makes you, well at least me, want to visit.

Well I'm back again to have a conversation with myself.

Cant help but feel 4 episodes wasn't enough, but on the other hand it seems obvious with all the loose ends that they are hoping for a 2nd series.

Also, at the start I thought Mark Bonnar's acting style, a bit over the top suited what seemed like a light hearted (if wicked) storyoine on murder.

But one it took a darker turn, I think it jars a bit.

And why are lesbian love stories always ending in heartbreak.

Bring on the Cleo ad as a complete series. Even with a hiccup on the way at least it ended well.

You’re not talking to yourself, I’ve been watching it too' it’s excellent and can’t wait to see just how it pans out. No one is behaving well, except Jake and everyone has something to hide. Roll on Wednesday!

I agree stumbledin ... I don't think 4 episodes was quite long enough, I think it could have been 5. Episode 4 seemed slightly rushed and there was masses of plot. Really enjoyed the whole series though. I also loved Walter's and his neighbours' houses.

Excellent series with no filler episodes. Unlike most series the end wasn't the usual letdown.

Loved that road. I could do so much with that bungalow!
I believe most of it was filmed in Glasgow but set in Edinburgh for some reason.

CoolCarrie · 20/11/2019 22:22

Loved it, great actors and clever plot. If this had been American made, the body count would have been huge! Will definitely look out for more by this writer and director

For those who thought Mark Bonnar was good in this (and other) series nice to see he is willing to talk about men challenging other men about domestic violence inews.co.uk/opinion/mark-bonnar-domestic-abuse-intervene-1326228

I was pleased to see that yesterday Stumbled.

I really enjoyed the series. I was a bit revolted but very amused by Emun Elliott's character's line mentioning Grand Designs in episode 1 Grin
