It's really, really hard to watch. It's so real and so raw.

MrsHedgeLegs · 26/10/2019 22:34

Absolutely heartbreaking. Those two boys that lost their brother & the mum carrying his body out. So so sad.

derxa · 26/10/2019 22:40

Thank you for joining me

The most remarkable thing is how there are bombs and guns going off and people are just living their normal lives, because that is their new normal.

derxa · 26/10/2019 22:46

And meanwhile people are moaning in this country. We are so lucky

Wow that was harrowing to watch can’t imagine what it was like to live through!

MrsHedgeLegs · 26/10/2019 22:50

Another young life taken. Hope people see this and have more empathy with people that come here to give their children a better life.

ColumboOnTheCase · 26/10/2019 22:51

The boy on the balcony saying he didn’t want to leave Aleppo, explosions around them and he didn’t even flinch.

Hesperatum · 26/10/2019 22:54

We don’t know how lucky we are in the UK. What strength and courage shown.

Thedot90 · 26/10/2019 22:55

One of the best documentaries I’ve seen, really gave me a shake to look outside my own bubble

confusednorthner · 26/10/2019 23:03

Wish I hadn't started watching but couldn't turn it off! I'm actually embarrassed to admit I don't actually understand all the background though. Can someone explain in idiot terms please?
I can't believe they were so brave to go back when they'd been away.

Beeziekn33ze · 26/10/2019 23:07

Hesperatum - Yes, it really puts our own concerns into perspective, how blinkered we sometimes are.

dillite · 26/10/2019 23:14

All those that begrudge these people safe existence should quite frankly go and live in that hell if it's so good in their eyes.

thickgit · 26/10/2019 23:56

The two brothers and the mum.

So many incredibly sad scenes. Unbelievable.

mizu · 27/10/2019 09:41

Watched this in Bristol a couple of months ago. Extraordinary film. I run an ESOL department and we set up a resettlement project two years ago for Syrian learners. The stories I hear are incredible.

CoolCarrie · 27/10/2019 10:36

God that was a hard watch, those poor children, as others have said we seriously don’t know how lucky we are.

megletthesecond · 28/10/2019 21:29

I saw this had excellent reviews. I must see if it's on catch up.

blueberrymuffin88 · 29/10/2019 00:19

Easily the most powerful and heart-wrenching documentary I have ever seen. It really puts things into perspective and gives a insight into the atrocities of war that are not often seen or spoken about. The courage of these people is truly momentous. I would implore everyone to watch this.

Nanamilly · 29/10/2019 03:37

It’s one of a few excellent documentaries on the tragedy that Syria is.

White Helmets is another one worth watching.

runwithme · 29/10/2019 08:11

What age would you say this is appropriate for? I have an 11 year old, would you say its suitable for that age?

Faircastle · 29/10/2019 08:22

I found it harrowing and I'm in my forties. The attacks were so relentless, over such a long period of time.

Given the choice, I wouldn't want an 11 year old to see that. You could explain the background and story without them having to see the footage (which contains several scenes of injury and death of both adults and children).

I realise that there were children even younger than that who were living through it and witnessing their parents and siblings being killed.

Faircastle · 29/10/2019 08:26

I just checked the bbfc website and they rated it 18.

LochJessMonster · 30/10/2019 11:33

So harrowing but really eye opening.

What got me was how upbeat they all were despite everything. The laughing and joking around, the wedding etc in amongst all the death.
So so brave.

Thedot90 · 01/11/2019 09:03

The persimmon was also a great scene - imagine living in such a place that a piece of fruit can bring so much joy! I really loved her best friend, she always had a smile on her face for her children.

purpleme12 · 23/11/2019 02:12

Shocking. Absolutely shocking
