This programme is ridiculous. What student is going to start baking bread of an evening?

We've just started it on catch up.

HappyDinosaur · 23/10/2019 20:28

What student is that fussy about pasta?! Crazy! They spend more in a week than we do in 3, and that's with a baby!

ellenanora5 · 23/10/2019 20:30

Was thinking the same JaneJeffer, none I've ever known, that tesco express must make a killing on the four lads Grin

SauvignonBlanche · 23/10/2019 20:32

Where the fuck did they find this lot?

megletthesecond · 23/10/2019 20:33

I hope none of those lads are studying accounting.

Kiki275 · 23/10/2019 20:37

I wish they'd pick a supermarket per week and run with it. They must make a swap from every single one. Who the hell has time to go to them all just to save 2p on a jar of jam etc?x

3rdNamechange · 23/10/2019 20:37

They'd struggle to find somewhere more expensive to shop.
They need a kitty , take it in turns to shop and find a local Lidl or Aldi.
Greg being particularly annoying tonight , perhaps he was trying to be down with the kids Confused

BigSandyBalls2015 · 23/10/2019 20:38

Where do they get their money from!! Nice bunch of lads but by DD has £50 a week for everything, not just food Shock

JaneJeffer · 23/10/2019 20:39

Why don't they steal nearly everything from home like mine does? Grin

That didn't look like Heinz ketchup to me. It looked almost pink!

To be honest, I'm losing the will to live with this programme. I'm watching now and cannot for the life of me understand their logic or how they spend so much.
But the programme tends to focus on the stupidly over spenders. So they can point out similar but cheaper brands. Hey!

whensmynexthol1day · 23/10/2019 20:45

I get cross at their relentless obsession with low fat everything. What 20 year old boy needs low fat cheese? Particularly if the rest of the meal is just veg so very low in fat. It's just not necessary! Over processed rubbish.

CalamityJune · 23/10/2019 20:48

They do seem to find very odd people, so the "tips" are often just common sense.

I have learned a few things from it over the years. Making my own pasta sauces mainly. I'd always assumed it was more time consuming and complicated than it is, and it is true that it's so cheap once you're used to having those sorts of store cupboard ingredients in all the time.

JaneJeffer · 23/10/2019 21:05

I bet they're back to normal as soon as filming is done!

I can't believe that their parents didn't teach them to cook some basic recipes.

I suspect they are buying the products they had at home, so they know no different.

CalamityJune · 23/10/2019 21:25

They've got much nicer cookware than me- i'll give them that!

I copied my upbringing in my first year of uni. Thankfully it was catered Mon-Fri but weekends were quite Sponsored By Birds Eye!

It was only when living with my vegetarian flatmate that i started branching out.

a coeliac student. You wouldn't believe the lengths coeliacs will go to for half decent gluten free bread. From what he was saying it's not the first time he's tried to make gluten free bread either, so not that unrealistic.

june2007 · 23/10/2019 21:31

I knew students who made bread and cooked together not that unrealistic.

TheMarzipanDildo · 23/10/2019 21:32

I’m a student and I did bake bread a few weeks ago tbf!
