Cancelled Sky subscription. Should I keep the box?

I realised that the majority of the programmes stored on my Sky planner were not Sky exclusive and that I was paying £40 a month just to record and pause. So I have cancelled it after many years.

Does the box serve any use? I still have my notice period to go so I can watch all the obscure programmes I have saved for years in the next 3 weeks Because I've not been in the mood.
But then what?
I have Netflix and Prime. It would be cheaper for me to buy a coupon of DVDs a month from Amazon then have Sky films.

Is it a sky Q box?

I've just cancelled and come to the end of contract, Sky have asked for all the boxes back as they belong to them and if I keep them I'll be charged! They've sent me packaging to send it all back.

However I think if it's the old sky then they aren't bothered about having the boxes back.

No not a Sky Q. It must be about 10 years old.
We were offered a Sky Q box but I said as we have only 1 TV in the house it wouldn't be worth it. I'm not sure the Sky person believed we have one TV

I must admit im hooked on my Q box and it’s worked out much cheaper than my regular sky

How is it cheaper than ordinary Sky? I was asked to pay an extra £8.00 monthly

You can use your old sky box to get Freesat channels. That's what I've done cos I don't have an aerial

I've come to realise that Sky is such a rip-off. We have just the Entertainment package (I think it's called?), not Movies, Sports and all the Kids packages (no longer needed). Even so, we pay £25.50 a month. Whereas DD has subscribed to Now TV (online TV package run by Sky) and has had a deal where she only pays something like £5 for 2 months. The normal cost I think is £7.99 a month. She gets the same programmes as me, but she actually has more box sets of programmes available to her than I do!

With Sky, you are paying all that money just for the recording facility really. We are moving in the next few months, and will not be taking Sky with us. Will probably subscribe to Now TV though, just to get some of the Sky Atlantic and Sky Arts programming. In the meantime, I'm trying to watch everything on my SkyBox before I stop subscribing.
