I keep an eye out for new ones, but haven't discovered any as good as The Killing, or any character as involved as Saga.

Any recommendations?

What channel is this on?

rosegoldwatcher · 24/07/2019 13:58

The channel 4 ap. If you have a firestick you can put the ap on it and access the full range of channel 4 box sets. Alternatively you can view it on your pc/laptop; type Walter Presents or link here www.channel4.com/programmes/dead-beautiful

Brilliant. Thank you

We have just finished watching "In the Dark". It is british not Skandi but has the same kind of feel about it.

Follow the Money was good, there have been 3 seasons so far

I just wanted to bump this thread to say Darkness: Those Who Kill is on iPlayer and is worth a watch! It's 8 parts and Danish, and I found it gripping. I liked the Killing and the Bridge (am still to watch the last series of each as I was late to the party).

Beck was great, it’s a Swedish series and was originally shown on bbc but looks like it’s not on iplayer at the moment. Also agree that Borgen was amazing and I don’t even like political dramas.

Sorry a placemark for when I finish trapped !
Which is excellent

Whenthedealgoesdown · 17/07/2021 18:22

Darkness: those who kill and Blinded: those who kill, I really enjoyed.

I know this is a zombie thread, but the recommendations are still relevant (and appreciated!) I think, so let me weigh in with mine.
I thought The Investigation was excellent - it’s the best thing (IMO) I’ve seen this year by some margin. A Danish series, it’s a dramatisation of the investigation into the so-called “submarine murder”. But unlike other true crime dramas, it actually gave no glory to the perpetrator at all. He doesn’t appear onscreen and in fact they don’t even name him. Which I thought was an incredibly refreshing approach. Because the perpetrators of these hideous crimes often feed off the attention.
What this series does is show how incredibly difficult and arduous the investigation was, and how they went the extra mile to ensure that they had all the solid evidence they needed to convict the killer. So for some tastes it may be a bit slow. But I found it incredibly moving. It gives some time to the victim’s life, so (unlike in other shows of this type) she’s not a naked body on a slab to be lingered over, but they talk about who she was as a person and what she did in her work (as a journalist) and life.
The leader of the investigation is played by Søren Malling who was in Borgen and Series 1 of the Killing.
And as a p.s. the makers of the show had the cooperation of the victim’s parents, and the parents’ (gorgeous!) dog plays himself.

It’s on BBC iPlayer for those who are interested.

So I’ve started La mante , enjoying so far

Xmasbaby11 · 19/07/2021 19:50

I generally enjoy the scandi ones more than the French ones.

Recently I've enjoyed

Those who kill
Trapped
Arctic murders
Fortitude
Cardinal

I'm sure there are more I've forgotten!

I liked DNA too - another Danish one but international cast. It’s good but rather sad. On iPlayer I think.
