Anyone watching? I was no Thatcher fan in the 1980s by any means but her sheer single mindedness and work ethic is impressive. Can’t see any politicians of her ilk in today’s runty bunch of Tory leadership candidates.

Anything in the documentary surprised you?

I watched the first episode then somehow managed to miss the rest until tonight. It was a good reminder of how things were back then. There were many more talented politicians in her cabinet than we have now (not to say I agreed with their policies).

So very interesting to revisit events with benefit of hindsight, much of the issues we face today started from policies in the 1980s.

I have not watched tonight’s yet have been catching up with the other episodes on iplayer.

The programme presents privatisation and selling council stock as popular policy decisions aimed at creating a wider wealth owning middle class and I think there was comment on how she made inroads into gaining wider C2 social class support for the first time. I think she genuinely wanted to create opportunity and the votes were an added bonus at the time.

The landslide victories of 1983 and 1987 are inconceivable today

Watching this on iPlayer now. What an incredible lady. No matter what her policies, as an individual she was quite an incredible person. I was particularly impressed by her composure and stance after the Brighton bomb.

Sadly I feel that TM has ensured it will be a very long time before we get another female PM.

I actually cried at the Brighton bombing and the aftermath . What a brave and determined woman to give her prepared speech at the conference the morning after it had happened .I didn't agree with much of what she did during her years in office but my goodness I can respect that . I can't see any of today's politicians being as resolute in adversary .

I’ve watched 3 episodes so far. The first two seemed quite balanced but the third (with Faulklands war and Brighton bombing) seemed more one-sided. I wonder why it has taken so many years to make?

Because she was the most divisive PM to date and, although she has many admirers she was, and still is, equally loathed by huge swathes of the country to which she laid waste. Although Brexit will equal,or even exceed, it on division.
