I thought I would make a new thread quickly seeing that the first one is nearly full

Yeah it's probably going to be a nightmare for her!

dontcallmelen · 12/03/2019 21:43

Loving the fifties dresses, I have a couple of really lovely original cotton fifties day dresses.

Frenchfancy · 12/03/2019 21:44

Don't like Mercedes or Jen's

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 12/03/2019 21:44

I love Merc's fabric but not the bubble hem design. I never liked them tbh. Diana could just about get away with them but literally no one else.

dillite · 12/03/2019 21:44

Getting triangles cut in Leah's boob seams will be hell as that fabric is so heavy

I'm sure Mercedes' fabric is IKEA curtaining - I recognise it.

FuzzyPuffling · 12/03/2019 21:45

I've got an original 50s dress too, but it is tiny (Esme sized). My daughter wore it when she was a teenager. I wonder if i can do anything with it? (inspired)

Halsall · 12/03/2019 21:45

I really can't warm to using rotary cutters for dress patterns. I use mine for patchwork because they're great for straight cuts but they're hopeless for curves imho.

Give me a decent pair of dressmakers' scissors any day.

dillite · 12/03/2019 21:46

Nope, I hate a bubble skirt

OP posts:
Wolfcub · 12/03/2019 21:46

Mercedes’ hem looks wonky

SchadenfreudePersonified · 12/03/2019 21:46

Janet's is looking good.

Fontella · 12/03/2019 21:46

Finding myself rooting for Riccardo because it seems to me watching he's been overlooked and underrated.

dontcallmelen · 12/03/2019 21:48

I had a bubble hem dress, I looked like a toddler in it.

dillite · 12/03/2019 21:48

fuzzy you could insert side panels in a matching or a contrasting fabric to make it look like one of those illusion dresses?

OP posts:
SchadenfreudePersonified · 12/03/2019 21:48

You can utilise a couple of tea towels to put extra panels in Fuzzy, then cunningly repurpose some cushion covers and a pair of jodhpurs to make a contrasting hem and lengthen the sleeves.

You're welcome.

dillite · 12/03/2019 21:49

Leah's bodice looks too long

Great minds dillite

I do hope Riccardo does well - he's never credited as he should be.

dillite · 12/03/2019 21:49

Riccardo has to win this one, surely?

OP posts:
Wolfcub · 12/03/2019 21:49

Riccardo’s really captures the 50s look. Love Jen’s fabric and I think Juliette’s is pretty

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 12/03/2019 21:50

Riccardo's is lovely, so elegant.

FuzzyPuffling · 12/03/2019 21:50

Perfect suggestions. The dress is pink with a sort of Italian village printed round the bottom, so inserted jodhpurs would be just right.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 12/03/2019 21:50

Thank you Partrick.

About time

dillite · 12/03/2019 21:50

Jen loves piping, she does it for everything

OP posts:
BitOfFun · 12/03/2019 21:50

Oh, I LOVE Ricardo's!
